About

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ‘50s and ‘60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut …And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975’s Red Headed Stranger and 1978’s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ‘80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

    Amazing Willie Nelson!

by AZ-BLT on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

I am thankful i had opportunity to see Willie once again, in my local area! Was so surprised he was playing such a small venue on 4/20! But at almost 91, to be performing at all is awesome. Looking old, but his beautiful voice was unwavering! Rio Amphitheater was well organized, and i had paid for pricey VIP seating so my view of the stage and performers was very good.of Video and audio worked well. Asleep at the Wheel were also a great performance for a band i had never heard of. Venue: beverages were highly overpriced, including just a bottle of water. No prices posted-so a shock when the total price was announced! Bar lines were crazy-could have used another bar. Parking sucked as food trucks blocked handicap parking. People attempted to dance in the aisles, blocking views of others. Security stopped some once, but ignored them when they continued. But so happy that i got another opportunity to see Ole Willie and family one last time in my life. Last time was also here in Laughlin at the Flamingo venue.

    Love Willie

by IBT on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

It’s an intimate venue of only 3000. That being said you are stuffed in closer than canned sardines. Hopefully you are ok touching and being touched by the persons to your sides as well as having your knees in the back of the person in front of you. I super appreciated the security going into the venue. The prices of adult beverages was steep, considering the heat water should have been given out upon entry as you are not allowed to bring in outside drinks.

    A true Icon

by Concertlovr on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

The outdoor amphitheater at Harrahs was pretty good, except WHY do these venues have to cram these chairs so close together? Is it greed? Very annoying. That being said, Harrahs was a downright party pre-concert, with live band, and bar outside. Opening band was really good, though, don't remember their name. Willie finally came out 1.25 hours after concert started and I'm sorry to say, his age is really showing. Vocals started out very pitchy, but improved as time went on. Overall, with all the very talented musicians on stage, it was a great concert, but, being almost 91 years old, it must be hard on Willie to perform. We're very glad we got to see this legend while we could, but think it's about time Willie hung up his guitar and enjoy what time he has left on this earth.

    Good times

by 4/20 with Willie on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

So this was a great show and Willie and the opening band did not disappoint. However the venue could have done a little better. We were all seated in bleachers for the most part other than the folks on the floor who were in chairs. This is not ideal as it's very crowded and congested not to mention uncomfortable and hot. There was only one bartender to provide service for 3000 people. The line was atrocious. And for the money they were charging for drinks they definitely could have planned better and provided better service. My friend paid $80 for a six pack of Mich Ulfra in a bucket with some ice. I spoke to a gal that said she paid $120 for the same thing. A vodka tonic was $20! Outrageous! Especially after having to wait a solid hour to get it. Plus it was hot outside, so misting fans would have been nice also. Wont be doing that again.

    Suboptimal

by Kayla on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

It started at the gate when they refused to allow us to take our waters into the concert, this forced people to buy the expensive waters and has no valid reason besides "greed"on the vendors part! It is a desert for crying out loud! Next it was not Willie that was singing, his son was singing, sort of false advertisement there. I understand the marketing aspect of that but it is still a misrepresentation.

    Willie is No. 1

by Pat on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

Willie and his cover band gave everyone who came a performance that tops all the others. So worth the trip from Canada! Willie’s warmth and voice and band members made it a night to always remember. Harris’s outdoor venue was perfect!

    Overwhelming Disappointing!

by Sue on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

Terrible experience! First off, the opening act, Asleep At The Wheel, was definitely asleep! I know Willie is older now, and his performance shows it. He no longer has the beautiful, clear voice of days gone by. Personally, he should be ashamed of himself for continuing to tour! He doesn't sing, only "talks"the words to his songs. If he continues to tour, he should at least have a better opening act! For the money we spent, it was overwhelming disappointing!

    Venue issue

by Sylvain on 4/23/24Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater at Harrah's Laughlin - Laughlin

Show was perfect. Venue? not so: there is a terrible bottleneck to exit the venue. it's not handicapped friendly at all and dangerous.
