    Great show, Great Venue

by M. C. on 5/10/23The Joy Theater - New Orleans

The Word is an awesome act and did not disappoint. The opening act, a gospel group called the Anointed Voices was a special treat. The Joy Theater is a great venue. Views are good everywhere. Good bar service. Helpful staff. Well maintained and clean. Excellent sound.

The Word was a great concert!

by GratefulSiren on 10/4/15The Fillmore - San Francisco

The evening started with Amy Helm and The Handsome Strangers. Amy has a wonderful singing style and her band is very professional. I enjoyed them very much. Then came The Word. I love Robert Randolph's music and this band was excellent! We were a little surprised that no songs were sung until the encore with Amy Helm. Robert had some issues with his instrument, which in no way took away from the concert. He is just fantastic! What a talent. John Medeski on the keyboards was also really great. The North Mississippi Allstars were so talented, I really liked seeing them. I would highly recommend this concert to people who love Blues, R&B, Gospel and Rock.

    The Word are Phenomenal

by Sluggobeast on 1/2/10Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Wouldn't be surprised if this Jan. 1 show turns out to be the concert of the year. Put together N. Miss All Stars, John Medeski, and Robert Randolph and you have a band of amazing players with great chemistry. Too bad The Word is just a side project -- but when they get together for these rare gigs they really burn. Their one album, released some 10 years ago, is but a shadow of what these guys do on stage. Simply amazing.

    Speechless about "The Word"

by LadyNonsense on 1/1/10Terminal 5 - New York

It was the best birthday I have had in years, maybe ever (to Luther's tech, it really was my birthday and thanks for the sticks in Frisco) . The venue was really cool, although I am not cool with the whole V.I.P area thing which I think is elitist and stupid. I like to walk about a club and hear and see the show from different angles and I couldn’t do that at Terminal5 ( it looked pretty bare up there anyway) . The Music was glorious and I danced all night long. Merry New Year!

    Word to The Word!

by Basecadet on 1/1/10Terminal 5 - New York

This was the perfect way to ring in the New Year. I had seen North Mississippi Allstars before and was blown away, but with Robert Randolph at the helm and John Medeski behind the keys the music was tremendous. Old gospel tunes reworked into heavy-grooves and serious musical interplay. Only one criticism: would have loved to have heard Auld Lang Sign after the countdown as played by these amazing musicians.
