I have never been as disappointed in any Broadway Show. Only a few of the original songs were performed and they were changed.......why would anyone think improvement could be made on originals - duh!! Singers were NOT Broadway quality. Entire performance was slow and boring. Couldn't wait to get out of Orpheum and sure wish had my money back. Extremely disappointing evening and I know the children sitting in front of us were bored to tears.

About
Rating: 1 out of 5by rosyrita on 5/30/13The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis Rating: 3 out of 5 Mary Poppins
by whippledream on 5/4/13Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisThe acting was great. The costumes were great. The staging and scernery were amazing and fascinating to see how each scene was constructed. I didn't realize how much the story would differ from the Disney version. The new songs that were added were so-so. The orchestra often overpowered the voices, which were challenging enough to understand with some of the characters because of the British accent. The bathroom facilities at the Orpheum in Mpls. are greatly inadequate to accommodate so many people during the brief 15 minute intermission.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 5/3/13Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis This play was fantastic! I was there with my 7 year old granddaughter. I'm not sure what was more enjoyable, watching the play or watching the expressions on my granddaughters face!

Rating: 5 out of 5 Amazing Mary Poppins
by GrandmaJS on 5/1/13Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisAlthough this was not the Mary Poppins storyline that most of us are familiar with, the slight deviations in the story were easy to follow. The highlight of the production however was the truly incredible costuming and staging. The set changes from grey and drab to an explosion of color were sometimes more than the eye could take in. Silly as it may sound, the production was Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Our only regret was that the evening performance was too late and too long for our 4 1/2 year old, so we had to leave early.

Rating: 5 out of 5 It was a Jolly Holiday With Mary... :)
by ASpoonfulOfAwesomeness on 4/30/13Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisI've seen Mary Poppins twice now, and it's still fantastic! The set is simply unbelieveable (who can not be entranced by a giant dollhouse that opens to reveal #17 Cherry Tree Lane), the costumes are incredibly intricate, and the lighting works wonders to invite the audience into the mood of the scene. As always, every actor was fantastic... even if I did see a matinee performance with several understudies playing principal roles. I was so impressed with the children who played Jane and Michael -- they are such professionals, and captured the essence of their characters. The best part of the show (for someone who grew up with Mary Poppins as her favorite movie) must be the music... from the big show-stopping dance numbers (Supercal, Step In Time, Jolly Holiday) to the musical narrative that opens the show (Chim-Chim-Cheree/Cherry Tree Lane) to the touching, poignant songs scattered throughout the performance (Feed The Birds, Being Mrs. Banks). Every song, whether an original Sherman brothers creation or a later addition for the stage version, completely captivates the audience and makes us exit the theatre whistling. I couldn't stop smiling throughout nearly all of the musical numbers... and there are many!
