About

Eleven of Australia’s finest artists

20 incredible songs

One of the greatest concerts of all time!

This April, Tim Rogers, Paul Dempsey, Richard Clapton, Kevin Borich Olympia, Vika & Linda Bull and The RocKwiz Orkestra will revisit a significant rock and roll music event: The Last Waltz.

Originally held at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco as The Band’s farewell concert, The Last Waltz brought together rock and roll royalty to pay tribute to everyone’s favourite group, THE BAND. Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Eric Clapton and others performed an incredible variety of well known and cult hits.

The set list featured The Band favourites and draws from the guest’s rich catalogues … Up on Cripple Creek, Forever Young, The Shape I’m In, Caravan, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, The Weight, Mannish Boy, Further On Up The Road, Helpless, Coyote, I Shall Be Released … to name but a few

The Band and their guests played until two thirty in the morning, closing proceedings with ‘Don’t Do It’. It was the last time they ever played together. The concert was filmed by Martin Scorsese and has been billed as ‘the greatest concert film of all time’, developing legendary status as a concert, an event and a movie.

Introduced by RocKwiz co host and writer, Brian Nankervis, this is your chance to hear the stories (and the myths) behind the concert and to witness the incredible music, performed live by a star studded Australian cast.

The Rockwiz Team first performed The Last Waltz Revisited at The State Theatre at The Melbourne Arts Centre in December 2015 and received multiple standing ovations and rave reviews from the sold out audience.

Don’t miss this unique concert experience!

“The Rockwiz Team’s presentation of The Last Waltz Revisited was pure joy. A superb recreation of a legendary concert, performed by some of our finest singers. Spontaneous, multiple standing ovations are rare these days, but you couldn't keep this audience seated. Loved it.”

Danny Katz, The Age,Melbourne.

    Ear damaging

by senior rock fan on 12/12/22Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

Horrible. Ear splitting garbage. Deaf sound guy. Band and venue oblivious to the shrieking decibel level that causes potentially permanent ear damage to the few thousand music lovers that were sadly exposed. Despite innumerable complaints by patrons to the venue and directly to the wildly incompetent sound engineer, the decibel level was only slightly reduced after intermission. But still so loud, that days later, our ears are still plugged, ringing, in pain and tinnitus. BTW, this is a relatively small venue, but we were seated in the second to last row on the main floor (20 feet from the sound engineer and mixer). Luckily we brought foam ear plugs that were only slightly effective (that's how loud it was) and would have left immediately but for the fact we drove 4 hours to get there. Stay away from this group of otherwise stellar musicians and tone deaf Mahaffey Center in St. Petersburg.

    Great Performances, Awful Sound

by BigPinksPorch on 12/7/22Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

I was thrilled to attend The Last Waltz concert. The film and recordings have been favorites since I first saw the movie as a teen in 1979. I thoroughly enjoyed the performances of the many musicians who gave it their all with great gusto and joy. I gave it a four star rating only due to the dreadful sound quality. First, for the size of the theater it was at a volume way beyond necessary, and I've no objection to rockin' volume in general (I survived the Ramones in the front row at CBGB!). I've seen many shows at The Orpheum, most with excellent sound, this wasn't one of them. Besides the excessive volume the mixing was terrible. Bassist Don Was was the mixed to overwhelm everyone else. While the drums weren't too much, they were generally muddy. I would have thought as the President of Blue Note Records Don Was might have instead insured quality sonics, not the blastingly loud, bassy show this was. During the intermission I spoke to one of the guys at the soundboard just a few rows directly behind me on the center aisle and politely said my peace. To his credit he heard me out. He said he had heard otherwise regarding the sound, and questioned where I was seated. I pointed out I was directly in front of him just a few rows down. I suspect he made some changes because their seemed to be a modest improvement in sound quality during the second half of the show. I recently saw Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew's 'Talking Heads - Remain in Light' concert at The Wiltern Theater. The large ensemble of musicians was akin to that of The Last Waltz Show including a horn section, but at that event the sound was fantastic. It had al the volume, drive and oomph you want at a live show but with a clarity utterly lacking at The Last Waltz concert on Sunday, it's possible to get it right, I wish more shows did. In any case I'm very glad I went to the show, and thankful for the event.

    A Night To Remember

by Soulshine on 12/7/22Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

The show was epic on many levels, starting with the facility (Los Angeles Orpheum Theater). The Band was really good together and individually, Warren and Anders being my favorites, but really loved all the others who displayed incredible talent. The horn section was insane!!!

Simply an amazing show. Warren and Jamie killed it.

    by J. G. on 12/7/22Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Beautiful old venue, nice, clean, great sound. Only downside was a few "freaks" dancing out of control right next to our seats. We paid good money for stage close seats and these guys were wandering around the theater all night.

    Jolly Good Show!

by lockidude on 12/7/22Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Sat in my home away from home upstairs. About as safe as I can feel around that many people. Easy entry. GREAT SHOW! Great to see the family atmosphere and enthusiasm. Great also to see such personalities with such talent. Great to remember a classic time.
