Great Family Musical Something for All Ages!

by Bedilya on 5/13/16Toyota Center Kennewick - Kennewick

We are so glad more musicals appropriate for young adults are coming to town and hope to see more each season. The music was really good, the narrator was nasally sounding, but did ok. The show had a good cast and some good jokes that were entertaining. My teenagers really enjoyed the "French" scene with the bowls and silverware and Pharroh's Elvis impersonation. My mom and I enjoyed the "Western" scene and the jail scene with the baker and the butler.

    First time amazement!!!

by Bigdogbo on 5/13/16Toyota Center Kennewick - Kennewick

This was the first time I've ever seen the theater like this, aside from kid's plays and such. It was such and awesome experience for me, and I'm glad this is the event that I did it. My girlfriend has seen it multiple times, in various venues, and even she found something new she hadn't seen. I absolutely loved it! I am DEFINITELY hooked now!!!

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

by JackieRogersJunior on 5/13/16Toyota Center Kennewick - Kennewick

We expected to see a world class production of this show. It was more like a high school production. The narrator (who sings and tells the story throughout the show) went off key several times. The orchestra was more like a garage band. The sets and stage props were minimal and of poor quality. We have seen this show several times. This was by far the worst production we have seen.

    Marvelous and amazing!

by Oly36 on 5/8/16Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Loved this show! We enjoyed the music and the vocalists! Due to the distance from the stage, we had some difficulty understanding the brothers singing together, after Joseph was gone. The costuming was awesome and the stage setting was well done, for the small stage.

Joseph was even better than expected!

by Mholst on 5/7/16Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

From beginning to end, Joseph was amazing! The music and the set was beautiful and set up was quick and uninterrupted. ALL the actors were phenominal in their roles. The voices sounded so good. I would see this Play over and over again.

    Boise Tuesday Show

by Josephconnoisseur on 5/6/16Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Set - 4.8 Sound - 4.4 - The Tues show had a stoppage right after the opening song following intermission. It was clear something was wrong with the sound system and they worked furiously on it for 20 min and saved the 2nd half of the show, for which we were grateful. I wondered afterward if what I felt was missing in the lead voices during the first half of the show was due to a gliche in the sound system. Dancers - 5 Reuben and Canan Days scene - 5 Benjamin Calypso - 4.9 Staging - 4.7 Pharoah - 4.8 - Wanted to see Pharoah come in on a motorcycle or make some other totally outrageous entry. Close every Door to Me - 4.2 - did not have the power it should have had. At that point the show needs to tap into the power of Israel's Covenant with God and it missed. It did not acknowledge that Joseph's staying power while in prison came from his heritage. This is where the slapstick, stereotyped nonesensical fun needed to stop and become something more profound (than it did) for a moment. Jacob - 3.5 Jacob doesn't work as a skinny short guy who teeters. And none of his wives were young enough to look like his daughters. The show made him look like a tottering Hugh Hefner. Joseph - 4.5 - Needed a stronger voice with better range and needed a broader set of physical actions/reactions onstage - Great physical specimen, but the voice and acting became predictable. Narrator - 4.7 - Needed a stronger, richer voice - hers is beautiful, but topped out and thinned out in the powerful places Potiphar - 4.5 - I think this Potiphar could have been great, but was staged and directed poorly. He has the persona to do the part justice, but I don't think his talents were optimized. Was disappointed to see Joseph get into Potiphar's bed. Not necessary. P's wife could have just pulled off his vest, as in the story text. That said, the actual come-on dance and costuming with Potiphar's wife and Joseph was very well done. The recap production number at the end was awesome.

    Joseph was fantastic

by DMD57 on 5/6/16Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

The play was everything that I expected and more. The acting and choreography was superb and the singing was spot on. I brought my whole family and everyone was really impressed. the eleven year old boy was singing the songs for days afterwards and that is unusual for him. even with the technical difficulties after the intermission it was worth the small inconvenience. Wonderful production.

"Joseph" lived up to his promise - AMAZING

by desertdreamers on 5/2/16The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

Those Canaan Days was a high point with a unique twist on the "cup stacking" rhythmic romp on the dinner table - like Canaan got a visit from "Stomp". It was a nice variation on the predictable story. Of course, Pharaoh never disappoints. The projections were beautiful, and the use of the white costumes and sheep to project on were clever.
