    Bad locale, delicious food

    by Lizfan2 on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

I loved the fact that it was not as crowded this year. However the Mall was easier to get to than RFK stadium. I loved the food though.

Event and diversity of food very good. Directions into event were a little lacking, and lack of shade on an unusually hot October day was a complaint I kept hearing from people. Sponsors of event were fantastic. Liked the taste band system very much although some vendors were having a problem with it. Looking forward to next years Taste of DC.

    Sigh ...

    by Visitors123 on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

This event was kind of boring. There was nothing but drinks and food...the music was mediocre. The process to enter was confusing, the lines could have been better identifiable when entering, the volunteers or workers were rude. We kind of had to ask around for directions and instructions. There was no pamphlet with info for the day. The wrist bands didn't make sense, I paid $10.00 for entry, then was told I had to put money on the band to purchase things. I put $1 on my band and then was told I have $26 on it to spend..which didn't make sense. The supply ran out by the end of the event. So I purchased stuff I didn't need or want so I didn't waste the money *shrugs* idk again confusing... There wasn't much for kids to do...no freebies or giveaways...no host. No crowd control ...just a confusing event and very limiting...the lines were too long to get anything. The Lyft people seemed to have there stuff together at the end, but we didn't use them. I was looking for some sort of photo booth for photo hops or marketing or raffle. More festival/fair like with an emphasis on food and drinks.

    Poor planning

by SaraBirdie on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

The taste bands were an excellent idea that was poorly executed and ruined the event. Mid day Saturday there was one person adding money to the bands. The map showed around 5 locations but after walking all over they could not be found. Machines should be used instead and WAY more than 5 considering the amount of people who attend. It took almost an hour in line to add money. The beverage lines were 10 times longer than ever before all day long. Some beverage stations only took tickets. Why were there tickets if everything was paid through taste tokens? Considering the temperature, water should be available through any method of payment throughout the day. At one point we needed water but were out of tokens and couldn't find someone to add tokens in order to purchase water and avoid dehydration. If this was the only time I had attended I would not recommend to someone else. Still not sure if we will be attending next year.

    Worst Taste of DC event

by Anonymous on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

Very poorly planned. We bought VIP tickets & the only privilege was that we got to pee in a porta potty behind a chain link fence. The porta potty’s clogged up 3 hrs into the event. No tent/umbrellas to shade from the hot sun. Minimal seating & we ended up eating while sitting in the ground. Food was average. Wine was DISGUSTING!! Where were the great wineries they had last year??!! I walked away with $$ on my RFID bcs there wasn’t anything I wanted to spend it on. Not ever going back! Such a disappointment bcs I really enjoyed the past 2 yrs

Overall, this was a nice event with several food vendors and menus clearly displayed. There was also continuous entertainment from three stages, including one with cooking demos. However, I do have some critiques on the event. My boyfriend and I purchased the VIP passes online in advance and had printed tickets mailed to us. This allowed us to by-pass a very long line to get into the venue. But we still had a fairly long wait as the different lines were not well marked and the one machine to register tickets in the VIP line kept having issues. I’d suggest better signage and delineation of lines and multiple register machines at each. Also, once we did get in, we wanted some water. Beverage booths kept directing us “over there” towards the VIP section, which we eventually found in the back of the area. I would suggest putting the VIP area more towards the front or some signage to clearly direct people. Another thing, and we didn’t have this problem since our tastebands were pre-loaded, but the lines to get money on the taste bands quickly became extremely long inside the venue. Again, we didn’t have this issue, but we met some people who probably brought admission without money already on the Taste band and they were asking how to buy food or get beverages. I don’t know if it just wasn’t well communicated to those buying entry that day that they would have to load their tastebands and to get food and beverage. I do think the tastebands was a good idea for both lines moving and security, but it should be made clear to all who attend that that’s the way to pay if they’re buying basic entry on the day of. What may also help is to have all tastebands with some amount pre-loaded. It was a nice event, but I feel it could have been better organized.

Worst event I have ever attended

by Anonymous on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

Honestly this years Taste of D.C. Was a joke. I spend the first hour of my day trying to get a wrist band. Went in and the lady said I shouldn't get a wrist band even though I paid for the drink lovers package, sent to customer service that sent me right back who then told me she didn't remember us and I needed to speak to customer service. They offered very small selection of beer and it wasn't even local breweries. Then food vendors ran out of food at 7pm even though the event was until 10pm. Most people's wrist band didn't even work at the vendors and had to wait in a longer line to ask for assistance. However it felt as though the staff knew less then the guests did. I will not return!

    Not well organized

by DaveKissamano on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

This is the second time I attended Taste of DC, and probably my last. Parking at RFK was not easy, and signage for the event was almost non-existent. Long lines to get in even for the VIP line that my tickets were for. Scanners to read bar codes on tickets were not working. There were long lines to add more token credits on your RFID wristbands. The description of the VIP area was way overblown on the website when buying tickets. Way over-hyped and failed to meet expectations.

Long lines, wrong band times, bad setup

by AlexandriaAshton on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

Arrived at Taste of DC with a VIP TasteMaster ticket. Due to problems with the RFID bracelets and/or scanners had to wait in line between 30-45 minutes just to get in. Once in the food was good, drinks were good, although seemed like a smaller selection of wine/beer than in the past. However, we specifically came on Saturday at a specific time because we were wanting to see a band we are fans of (Jeff from Accounting). Web site listed them performing at 3PM, sign at stage said 3PM....at 3:20 a different band came on??? We had planned to get more food but the line to add money to the RFID bracelet looked to be between a 30-45 minutes wait so we ended up leaving and heading downtown to get food. Until they work through the issues with the RFID and lines related to the RFID usage then I will not be going back any time soon.

    Poorly planned and executed

by RLVM on 10/10/17RFK Stadium Lot 8 - Washington

This event was terribly planned and horribly executed. Long, disorganized lines, broken scanners (which were the entire basis of getting and paying for food/drinks), poor layout.
