About

IN THE MOOD - The brassy, All-American celebration of Swing Jazz is finally touring Australia for the very first time in September, with show dates in Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston, Brisbane, Mandurah, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.

IN THE MOOD brings a cast of nineteen featuring the blistering String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra and inexhaustible IN THE MOOD Singers and Swing Dancers from New York, on a nostalgic journey through the music which guided a nation's spirit towards hope, promise and prosperity.

The 1940's was a time when America was in tune with sentimental ballads and up-tempo Swing rhythms, where the waltz and foxtrot competed with the wild, acrobatic jitterbug, jive and boogie woogie crazed Hepcats on the ballroom dance floor.

IN THE MOOD recreates this defining era live on stage through sizzling choreography, sensational scats and romantic harmonies, sassy costumes and an hypnotic thirteen-piece Big Band, belting out an authentic score of over fifty unforgettable hits from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and the Andrews Sisters -

Chattanooga Choo Choo, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (of Company B), In The Mood, Tuxedo Junction, Sing, Sing, Sing, Sentimental Journey and so much more.

Now in its eighteenth season of sold out performances throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, IN THE MOOD was performed at an Inaugural Ball for President Clinton and selected by World USO as an official entertainment for the 50th Commemoration of World War II.

IN THE MOOD Creator, Producer and Artistic Director Bud Forrest was also the accompanist for the official United States Air Force Chorus, the Singing Sergeants and says:

"Many of the arrangements were written by Vic Schoen, the conductor for the Andrews Sisters and Musical Director for Universal and Paramount Pictures.  The songs are timeless and this production is as authentic as it gets.  We are thrilled and honoured to be touring IN THE MOOD Down Under!"
Hep cats, lindy-hoppers and fans of the Big Bands, get ready to swing to the music which continues to inspire!

Tickets for IN THE MOOD are on sale from Monday 4 April with concessions for Pensioners, Seniors and Children in all theatres.

    Fantastic

by Grammie on 4/21/19Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red Bank

Went with my 92 year old dad to see this along with my daughter and brother. I knew it was music from his era and that he might enjoy it. We all did!! I looked at him throughout the performance and it made me happy to see him smiling and reminiscing. The performers and band were fantastic. They were thoroughly entertaining. I really loved that when they were honoring the veterans and present military members, they sang the song for each branch of the military and had the audience members stand if they belonged to that branch. Very touching and moving. I will be looking for future performances and will definitely buy tickets and see again. Please bring them back!!!!!!

Took my grandmother. It was her present for Christmas. There was 4 of us. I think everyone in my party enjoyed it. But the gentleman next to us had a blast. He was so excited through the whole thing. Just watching this man have the time of his life man the entire experience worth going.

by AD on 3/27/19The Cabot - Beverly

We were very impressed with all the performers. Great voices from all who sang and piano player who was also the band leader was fantastic. All the men who played instruments were equally as good. We highly recommend seeing this performance. It ended with a tribute to our armed forces. Bring your Kleenex!

    Entertaining for 60 and up

by moody on 3/27/19The Cabot - Beverly

I am a lover of swing dance and big band music. The show started off great with the band performing some classic big band tunes. This talented band should have been more of the show. Unfortunately, there were too many songs, mostly corny ballads to make us laugh. The lead singer went off key several times. The harmonies went in and out. There were a few dance numbers performed well. If they had stuck to the band doing most of the show, that would have made it really great. The music is the main reason I went and it was obvious that they didn't rely on he true talent in the group- the band.

The 1940's came alive on stage. Great band! Even if you were born after WWII, you felt the pride and way of life of America. Great dancers, singer, accompanied by great musicians. Fantastic band.

    Xmas present for our Moms

by ae123ra on 4/11/18Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

The performers and orchestra were very, very, talented. Our Moms, in their late 80's are still talking about the show and the memories it rekindled. These Ladies can be tough to please but they really enjoyed the show, and so did we.
