    For my 6 Year Old.

by richmille on 2/7/18Hershey Theatre - Hershey

I took my 6 year old daughter to this show worried that she might get bored. She did not. The only issue was she wasn't aware of the Grimm version of Sleeping Beauty and I had to answer her questions about what was going on up until intermission. The good news was there were several other parents with young children doing the same. So if you are going to take a child to see this, explain the story ahead of time as there is no dialog. As for the show itself, she sat on the edge of her seat and applauded after each dance number. It was beautifully done and I would recommend seeing it if you get a chance.

    Beautiful dancing, gorgeous venue.

by VisitingFromNC on 2/6/18Hershey Theatre - Hershey

Sleeping Beauty is not a sleepy ballet, nor for those of casual interest in ballet. This is perhaps the most choreography in one show I've ever seen (I'm not a ballet fanatic), and all of it was wonderful. My wife--who IS a ballet fanatic, having studied for several years in her youth--complimented the dancers' form (especially their "feet"...must be a ballet thing). Very impressive cast, including the sheer SIZE of the cast, when seen altogether on the stage. If you're planning to attend Sleeping Beauty at another location (and haven't seen it before), be prepared for 2+ hours of an intense performance--with an intermission between Acts I & II--and to go straight into Act III without an intermission. The Hershey Theatre was magnificent. I feel privileged to have watched this performance in such a place. It fills one with nostalgia. The theater staff were polite and professional, including the exemplary and attentive security team on-hand to guarantee our safety. Make sure to leave enough time to get through the security checkpoint (they really aren't kidding when they suggest arriving 45 minutes before showtime).

    A magical performance

by NYCmusiclover on 2/6/18Hershey Theatre - Hershey

The theatre is a beautiful setting for this classic performance. The main roles were well done and the ballet very enjoyable. I only wish that a live orchestra had been used.

Wasn't too bad for a traveling ballet

    by Wlkr143 on 2/6/18Hershey Theatre - Hershey

The skill level of the dancers was incredible! Customs here gorgeous. Plot was good. some of the choreography was weak. Not because of the dancers, but because of whoever created it. Seems repetitive at times. the set was nothing to write home about. Seems they only had hanging drops and nothing fancy for the stage. I am not sure if that is because the theater we watched it at was a smaller stage or not but I saw Rent there and they had all their props. The most annoying part was the wicked stepmother and her whatever was following her around. I could have done without all of that. But all in all, it was good and it was obvious they had some amazingly talented dancers!

    Russian Ballet - Forgettable!

by Wontseeballetagain on 2/6/18Hershey Theatre - Hershey

I can now say that I have seen a terrible show at The Hershey Theatre. My daughter and I left after the first act. We weren't the only ones that left at that time. Definitely not worth your money or your time.

Great, but sound/music left much to be desired

by SWMich on 1/24/18Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

Venue and stage decoration were beautiful. But the music... not so much. I'd overlook the fact that there wasn't a live orchestra, but the crackling background noise and the subpar speakers put a damper on it. The ballet performance itself was quite good. A couple of characters were lacking shine, but others made up for it. Especially appreciated the solo/pair performances at the end.

    Great family experience

    by 3bassetmom on 1/23/18Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

The State Ballet of Russia is so wonderful. They are so talented and focused, yet manage to keep in character. The costumes are beautiful (and costume changes plenty for some of the dancers. I wanted to be a ballerina by the end of the performance.
