    Sakhina's Restaurant was Ok

by thedar on 11/24/18Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Venue was intimate but very tight. Show was enjoyable but not worth the price. Not a terrible night but would not recommend it as a good use of time/money given all the other options available in NYC.

    Sakima's Restaurant

by Miz42 on 11/4/18Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Although this play was originally written and performed 20 years ago, it is timely now. Manvi did a great job. The venue is intimate and conducive to this type of performance.

A well acted and thought provoking play.

by LuckyLucia on 10/26/18Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Sakina's Restaurant was an unexpected thought provoking play that was extraordinarily well acted.. Aasif Mandvi's story is a timeless saga of the difficulties immigrants face wherever they go in assimilating their culture into a new and different place, and how that move changes the lives of every generation in some way. Children often lose their connection to the family's culture, adults may lose their own identity in the process. The reality of a dream is not always realized and the difficulties in coping with disillusionment is painful. We laughed, we cried, we enjoyed Sakina's Restaurant and would recommend it highly.

    Best one man play

by SuzieSaysSo on 10/8/18Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

I absolutely loved it. My favorite scene is when he plays the immigrant dad and his america born son at the same time. As an audience member I felt empathy for both. That is the brilliance of Aasif’s acting. I related to it. We experienced the same thing when we took our ten yr old to Pakistan in April. Yalla go see it now.
