2008 Big O Tires Racing Season

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series headlines the 40th anniversary and the Big O Tires Racing Season at Infineon Raceway in 2008 as last years winner, Juan Pablo Montoya and the gang returns to the Sonoma Valley for the 20th consecutive year.

But that's only the tip of the iceberg as the world-famous road course and drag strip will feature the ground pounding excitement of the FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals, the two-wheel excitement of the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown and the open-wheel cars of the IRL IndyCar Series. It's simply the most comprehensive motor racing schedule in the country.

Whether it's two wheels, four wheels or 7,000 horsepower, you'll find it at Infineon Raceway during the 2008 Big O Tires Racing Season.

The Sonoma Valley facility will feature the most diverse motor racing schedule in the country, highlighted by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, June 20-22.

The upcoming season will again feature back-to-back weekends of world-class drag racing, beginning with the FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals (July 25-27). The 6,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragsters will headline the weekend, along with Funny Cars, Pro Stock Cars and Pro Stock Motorcycles.

The following weekend (Aug. 1-3) will feature the NHRA Summernationals Division 7 Drag Races, presented by Korbel. More than 450 cars will compete during this event, including 250-mph Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars including defending champions Aaron Olivarez (Top Alcohol Dragster) and Mark Woznichak (Top Alcohol Funny Car).

The IndyCar(R) Series will also return to Infineon Raceway for the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County (Aug. 22-24). Scott Dixon continued his mastery of road courses by taking the victory in 2007 at Infineon Raceway.

The fastest riders on two wheels will return to Infineon Raceway in 2008 for another great doubleheader weekend of racing at the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts (May 16-18). This will mark the only springtime visit of the year to Northern California for top riders like Mat Mladin (Suzuki), Miguel Duhamel (Honda) and Petaluma natives Eric Bostrom (Yahmaha) and Ben Bostrom (Ducati).

Fans can enjoy a celebration of some of the world's finest vintage race cars, as well as wine country living when the 22nd annual Wine Country Classic vintage car races return to Infineon Raceway, May 31 - June 1. This unique weekend will feature the very best in vintage car racing. The open paddock gives everyone a chance to get an up-close look at these historic machines in addition to a variety of car corrals that will be on display around the property.
