Buster Keaton's comic masterpiece The General with music
Students can attend the Oakland East Bay Symphony at the spectacular Paramount Theatre on Friday, March 19 and Sunday, March 21 for just $10 (plus processing fee). This is a truly unique event, combining a screening of Buster Keaton's silent film classic The General with live accompaniment on the Paramount's "Mighty Wurlitzer" pipe organ. Acclaimed organist Christoph Bull will play his original score to The General and also join Maestro Michael Morgan and the orchestra for Saint-Saëns' powerful Organ Symphony. Filmsite called The General "an imaginative masterpiece...One of the greatest of all silent comedies (and Keaton's own favorite)." A pre-concert talk by John Kendall Bailey takes place one hour prior to the concert.
