Travel to the island of Ceylon in Bizet's exotic story of desire, friendship and sacrifice! Zurga, a fisherman, and Nadir, a hunter, have vowed to avoid the priestess who came between them years before. When she returns, however, Nadir and the priestess embrace their love, defying her sacred vows and threatening the men's friendship. The lovers' affair is discovered and they are sentenced to death, but are saved by Zurga, whose life the priestess saved years before. Starring Brian Mulligan as Zurga, Sean Panikkar as Nadir and Heidi Stober as Leïla.

Opera Colorado's artistic and education staff presents thirty-minute lectures prior to each performance. Lectures are held one hour before curtain time in the orchestra section of each theater. The lectures are free to all ticket holders. We invite you to join us to learn a little more about the opera and ask questions.
