a really good show that could have been great!

by bearkiss on 11/14/17Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

i loved everything he did... but only 75 minutes long? the show started promptly at 9pm and ended right at 10:15pm... he could have easily played 15 more minutes (he left out many songs from his lost themes albums)

    John Carpenter is The Man

The Aragon was a great venue for this show, because the atmosphere was perfect. Love this guy and his band, excellent performance, very fun.

    Carpenter was amazing

by Bondfu on 11/13/17Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Great show seen this last year in Milwaukee. A new album of anthology themes is the center for this tour. Carpenter played all of his classic themes including Starman which for me was the highlight of the show. Carpenter also offered a meet and Great which I would highly recommend. He signed an lp, a movie poster, a tour poster, and a setlist for me. Meet and greet also came with a tour shirt, photo, and a presigned lithograph for Halloween.

    You had me at Halloween

by dotteress on 11/12/17Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

It was really fun to hear the soundtracks live and watch the film clips in the background.

The Horror Master is also the Soundtrack Master

by woosabi on 11/3/17Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

This was a great concert much better than you think it would be with John playing to the crowd and great merch and vinyl this was something worth experience and to experience on Halloween was even better! I vowed never to miss his concerts again!

    Great show

by Listener66 on 11/2/17Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Carpenter's sound was great. All the music was perfectly put together for a live setting. The main issue I had is that the movie footage that was displayed on the screen behind the performers was all gore. There are so many other well done, not gory, atmospheric scenes from Carpenter's movies that would have been very appropriate with this music. The Orpheum is a beautiful theater for this kind of soundtrack music. The seats are cramped and the stairs are steep, as to be expected in an old style theater. Bathrooms were decent. Not easy exiting theater due to steep stairs and tight walkways.

Excellent Show, But Not At This Venue

by KageAlan on 7/31/16Cathedral Theatre at the Masonic Temple Detroit - Detroit

This was a rare opportunity to see director/writer/composer John Carpenter present a new dimension to his work, which he did and it was incredible! I wasn't expecting a full band, but there they were, and they knew exactly what the audience wanted. The selection of music played was perfect, and the audience could easily have stayed much longer. Am hoping this isn't the last tour he does. Hopefully, though, he doesn't play at the Masonic Temple. If the air conditioning was turned on, nobody could feel it. Also, our seats (sections of three) weren't even bolted into the ground, and they didn't have enough seats for the number of people sitting in the first row.

by TLMachine on 7/18/16Cathedral Theatre at the Masonic Temple Detroit - Detroit

This was a great and unique show. It was great to hear Carpenter's compostions live. The live band is solid and Carpenter is fun to watch.

    John Carpenter brings it

by Panorama on 7/18/16Cathedral Theatre at the Masonic Temple Detroit - Detroit

After a viewing of Escape From New York John Carpenter came out and played his famous movie scores as well as his new material from his two new albums. Images from the film of that particular score play on the screen behind the band.

    Fun, but short

by thespyderboy on 7/2/16Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

John Carpenter played the themes from some of his most popular movies, as well as several selections from his recent original albums. It was great hearing the music, but the concert was a bit on the short side. The performance element was somewhat lacking, but forgivable given the circumstances (a screen played clips from the movies). \ Would have been great hearing more insight and stories from Carpenter to flesh out the experience.
