Buyer FAQ
What is TicketExchange and how does it work?
TicketExchange is Ticketmaster's new online service that enables premium and fan-to-fan transactions. Buyers simply select the ticket(s) they want based on price and seat location, without having to bid against other buyers, without having to coordinate delivery from anonymous sellers, and without the gamble that the tickets are legitimate.
How do I know the tickets I buy are legitimate?
Only Ticketmaster can guarantee 100% legitimate tickets, because the tickets sold through TicketExchange are linked to Ticketmaster's ticketing systems. If you buy tickets that are sold through a source other than Ticketmaster, you have no way of knowing whether they are counterfeit or have been invalidated. If a ticket is invalidated or counterfeit Ticketmaster's systems will know and not allow it to be resold through TicketExchange. Ticketmaster accomplishes this by requiring sellers to submit the barcode number for each ticket they want to sell. Ticketmaster then checks that barcode number against its own database, and if determined to be valid then the ticket will be posted along with an automatically generated description of the ticket's section, row and seat number. If you then buy a ticket, Ticketmaster will cancel the original barcode number (thus invalidating the original ticket) and provide you with a new ticket.
Do I need to contact the seller directly and coordinate payment for tickets in person?
No, Ticketmaster takes care of it for you! We facilitate your TicketExchange transaction, making it simple, safe and secure to buy tickets.
How do I pay for my tickets?
Major credit cards are accepted for payment. Cash, checks and money orders are not accepted. Similarly, as Ticketmaster does not accept gift certificates for online purchases, gift certificates cannot be used for TicketExchange purchases.
What are Platinum Tickets?
Platinum Tickets are premium tickets for some of the best seats in the house at concerts and other events. Some artists and event providers are now making a select number of Platinum Tickets available for sale directly to fans through Ticketmaster TicketExchange.
Aren't you just diverting tickets to resale?
No. The Platinum Tickets on TicketExchange were not purchased initially and then posted for resale; they are being sold for the first time on Ticketmaster's TicketExchange platform. Using this platform enables market-based pricing (adjusting prices according to supply and demand) for live event tickets, similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold. The goal is to give the most passionate fans fair and safe access to the best tickets, while enabling artists and other people involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their true value and participate more fairly in the economic value of the experience they're providing to fans.
How are my tickets delivered?
Depending on the event, Ticketmaster offers TicketFast® or standard UPS ticket delivery options. In some cases, will call may be offered or required. Learn more about TicketFast®.
Can I buy only part of a posting?
All postings count as a single transaction; therefore only the entire posting may be purchased during a sale.
What do I do if tickets aren't posted for an event that I want to attend?
Check back often! We may get many new postings daily. If you're seeking sports tickets, many teams allow season ticket holders to resell their tickets on team-branded sites hosted by Ticketmaster. For a list of those teams, click here.
What fees are associated with buying tickets?
The buyer will pay fees that may be reflected during the purchase process or that may be included and deducted from the amount you see displayed as the resale price of the ticket.
What is the Current Price per ticket?
The "Current Price" includes the Original Price plus any amounts that have been added by the Seller or any Sellers who may have held the ticket before him/her. Other amounts or fees may also be included in the Current Price, or may be added on top of the Current Price. If additional amounts are added on top of the Current Price, they will be displayed on the web site before you complete your purchase.
What happens if an event is cancelled?
Occasionally, events are cancelled, moved or postponed by the promoter, team, band or venue for a variety of reasons, which may include weather conditions or situations affecting the performers, venue, players, staff, other personnel or the audience. If you have purchased a ticket to a cancelled event through TicketExchange, have not resold it through TicketExchange and return it to us as we instruct, then we will make every effort to ensure you receive a prompt refund of the ticket price and associated convenience charge (the per order processing, delivery and handling fees are not refundable) you last paid through TicketExchange for such a ticket. If an event is moved or postponed, sometimes venues, teams, promoters or sponsors of events will issue refunds to ticket holders or ticket purchasers. In such a case, please contact us for exact instructions, and please make sure to include/provide your account number so we can expedite your refund if applicable.
Is there a refund policy?
Ticketmaster generally does not issue exchanges or refunds for purchased tickets, nor do we issue refunds for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets, or tickets claimed to be "not delivered." However, if the event you are attending is in Illinois and you have purchased a ticket through TicketExchange, you will receive a refund of the amount you paid if: (a) the ticketed event is cancelled (in which case you will not receive a refund of any delivery fees), (b) that ticket does not allow you to enter the ticketed event for reasons that may include, without limitation, that the ticket is counterfeit or that the ticket has been cancelled by the issuer due to non-payment, unless the ticket is cancelled due to an act or omission by you, (c) that ticket fails to conform to its description on this web site, or (d) you failed to receive that ticket. However, you may be able to resell your ticket(s) on TicketExchange if you cannot attend the event. If you have lost a ticket, or if your ticket was stolen, damaged or destroyed, please contact customer service.
