Grand Rapids Ballet's production of Sleeping Beauty was an amazing show.
Beauty in Motion! Wonderful sets and costumes! The only bewildering part of the ballet was the inclusion of other fairy tale characters-Riding Hood and the Wolf slowed down the ending of the show.
The ballet was fabulous. Will definitely go again!
Amazing production of Sleeping Beauty! Costumes and sets were gorgeous, dancing was incredible, and the music was flawless!
I've never been a fan of ballet. My wife dragged me to this. However, I became a fan after seeing the staging and the ballet performance itself. I don't know what I was expecting, but I came away feeling that I could go to future ballets and enjoy them.
My first ballet, the costumes were elegant, the ballerinas were amazing and the orchestra was magnificent. I thought there was going to be a little singing as it was my first time I didn’t know exactly what to expect, none-the-less it was still an awesome production/performance.
First ballet ever and I was impressed. My daughter and I loved it. The orchestra and the choreography were right on point. Very entertaining. Fabulous!
It was like being in New York the talent was tremendous the music the costumes were beautiful wish I could see it again
The introduction to the ballet with most of the cast was phenomenal. As the story line continued, it lacked stability and continuity as the flow of events became secondary to the dance performances. Both could have been achieved but this was not the case. As a result, the storyline suffered in lieu of the dance which was disappointing as the theme per se was lost in a disjointed attempt to showcase a certain select few star dancers overshadowing the other talented supporting cast. As the main characters repeatedly performed, exited the stage and then reappeared for yet another number, I became bored and found this mundane at best. This repetition actually retracted from the previous number performed instead of enhancing it. Although the costumes were exquisite, variety in a more flowing or alternative presentation would have been refreshing, especially for the leads. The choreography was meticulous and creative but again, it would have been superior if blended with the storyline instead of being separated in blocks of dances.
