He relied almost entirely on his guitar and doing short parody songs which consisted of playing the song normally for one line, then altering a second line to make it be about farting or something, then completely changing the third line to close out the joke. While a competent singer / guitar player, most of his song references were from the 70s and 80s and it was a very tired and old act that felt like he hadn't changed a word in 15-20 years. It's hard to think that a 'don't the BeeGees sing kinda funny and high like a woman?' joke is considered topical in this day and age. It's possible that since it was not a very packed house he wasn't giving it his all, but it still made the show just painful and unfunny to watch. He closed his set early when he could tell the audience wasn't laughing at a thing and it was a tremendous waste of time and money attending the show.
I have to be honest, the headliner relied solely on his guitar and parodies of songs, which got old really quick during his routine. If it wasn't for the performance of the 2nd comedian, I would have felt like I wasted my money entirely.
The show was average to good, and a nice way to change things up for a night out.
Not worth going to see....we actually walked out early
All the comics were great. My favorite were the host and Dennis Blair.
I guess Dennis Blair was the headliner but quite frankly he was probably the least funny of the three of them! All three barely got a chuckle out of us. The couple we were with walked out along with others. Even for the low fee, not worth buying tickets to this show. Mohegan is going to have to get some better talent!
This was not at all what I was expecting. I got the tickets for my husband's birthday and invited my daughter and her husband to go. The Cabaret was comfortable and you can view the stage from any of the seats. The comics were great. I liked that the MC (also the opening comic) is a comedian and lead into each act perfectly. Each comedian had their own style but were definitely worth it. Dennis Blair was great and didn't miss a beat, even when audience members were interjecting into his show. I am planning to see more of these productions to see more of the comics.
I don't attend a lot of comedy shows and now I think I realize why. This show just wasn't very good. The opener was actually the best comic of the night as far as I am concerned (and he was average), the second guy was weak and the "headliner" Dennis Blair was very mediocre. I do appreciate that he didn't resort to the same old jokes about sex and marriage and that he wasn't crude at all. He just wasn't very funny. I have a friend who produces fund-raising shows at local reception halls and invites no name comics who are just as entertaining. Can't recommend this one...sorry.
