    Emotional, funny, relevant.

by Tradespan on 12/29/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

Saw this about 15 years ago, they have added some modern references, however the stories are unchanged and still very revelant. The play surrounds a Hair salon in Toronto with the various stories which come out. I laugh, i cried, then laughed and cried some more. The next day my whole office was talking for hours about the positive effects this play had on all of us.

    Phenomenal!

by Amanda on 12/27/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

The show was absolutely phenomenal! I was fortunate to see the very first run 20 years ago and must say I'm throughly impressed with the way it has flourished. From the set designs, transitions, costumes, singing, character development, everything! I took my 9 year old and she absolutely loved it! It allowed us to continue some very important and necessary conversations about being a little girl and growing into a woman. Very well done, congratulations!

    Breathtaking performance

by Blossom on 12/23/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

I haven’t been into plays for a long time , after experiencing the Kink in my hair I’ve found a pulse and intend to enjoy many more! I love the way the cast embodied the true essence of a black woman an didn’t water it down to suit societies perception of what a black woman should be , this is as very important to me as our true identity struggles to maintain authenticity this was a true reminder to stand up proud of who you are! BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL THE NAURAL WAY!

    I needed this

by For the Culture on 12/23/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

This artistic expression took me through a range of emotions ( I cried on the stranger next to me) and laughed ( spilling my drink on the stranger next to me!). To see such a range of stories of individuals and parts of the culture that aren't celebrated in mainstream. Support Da Kink any way you can, you will not regret it.

    STELLAR AND PHENOMENAL

by Rosery on 12/22/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

I cried, I laughed, I cried some more. The production value of this story had me engaged and wanting more. The jokes were for the culture and seeing representation like that on such a big stage was heart warming and a reminder as to why all voices matter. One of the best plays I have seen all year.

    Steller Performance

by Evelyn on 12/20/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

Women who immersed themselves in their respective roles. Particularly liked the role that the woman who was violated played. She deserves 10 awards for what she did. Washrooms not easily accessible for someone with mobility issues. Five stars.

by JJ on 12/17/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

What a wonderful experience to attend the 20th Anniversary show. The set, actors and crew were fantastic. It was great to laugh again! The writers also made the script relevant and the actors brought the words out so beautifully. I hope everyone sees this show! It's definitely worth it!
