Good in Theory, Accents Not Needed

by Mom2584114 on 6/7/18Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

I thought this was a great play and kids would probably love it more if they could understand what they actors are saying. The whole idea of the play was that it was "Italian" in Italy. Kids that went to this play were ages 3-5. That are still learning how to speak proper English, it seemed to me that many kids got antsy because they could not follow what the actors were saying with their "Italian/English" accents. In my opinion this is a kids play, the accents aren't needed. They would enjoy it just as much if the actors just spoke a non-accented English. Otherwise, the play was great, I really enjoyed it. It was only an hour, which is about how long most kids will sit still for a play.

    Curious George was just ok

by Qbee1234565 on 5/22/18St. George Theatre - Staten Island

The show was just ok. I do not think the show was long enough, it should have been at least 11/2 hours long to get your monies worth.

    Perfect show for little guys

by Mommacin on 5/21/18St. George Theatre - Staten Island

Fantastic for all Curious George fans except since the character George isn’t wearing a mask, my kids had a hard time recognizing the monkey. They still enjoyed the music, story and props. Perfect show under an hour to keep my little ones engaged.

My five year year old grandson thought it was hilarious! And the fact that the storyline was around the Meatball contest resonated with us!

    Curious George

by Nana58123 on 5/23/16St. George Theatre - Staten Island

The show was not for young children and toddlers, this was the audience that was there. My grandson is 5 and we watch Curious George ALL the time and halfway through the show they lost his interest and was ready to leave. Kids were falling to sleep. The story was not that great. Of all things it was about making meatballs and a meatball contest, there were many other subjects that could have been chosen.

    Monkey in a box

by SIDad2016 on 5/23/16St. George Theatre - Staten Island

The show was entertaining, but a bit brief running about an hour with no intermission--maybe that's by design so the young one's don't get too restless, but another song or two would've been better. My 2-year old daughter enjoyed the music and the stage decor, though I found it a bit skimpy. They need a better George costume because my daughter kept asking, "where's George?". I had to explain he's right there. She said, "oh, ok". Spoiler: So George packs himself away in a "return to sender" box to Italy, carrying a plate of spaghetti & meatballs to enter the Golden Meatball Contest. I couldn't get over the thought of the judge tasting that meatball after it's been transported trans-Atlantic via sealed wooden crate with a monkey clutching it. Ewww. Anyway, my daughter enjoyed hopping around the aisle and slept on the way home. Suggestion: They should've sold Curious George balloons. The Sesame Street show at MSG was selling 2-sided Elmo/Cookie Monster balloons at $10 each and kids were going bananas over them!

    Curious George Live!

by JennyFr on 4/28/16Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester

My 5 year old loves Curious George and absolutely loved the show! It was really fun and kept his attention the whole time! He was talking about it for days after. My 2 year old watched most of the show but since it is a play, he started to lose focus during the last 15 minutes.

    Disappointing

by AnastasiaMorgan on 4/26/16Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester

My 2.5 year old loves Curious George but lost interest when he saw that Curious George did not look like himself. We were all expecting someone that really looked like the character. To a 2.5 year old, he was just a man wearing a furry outfit. We took my son to the Sesame Live earlier this year and he loved it because he recognized the characters and sang and danced with them. When a musical is geared for kids, I think they should have went further to see it through their eyes and their expectations.
