About
RATATAT IN CONCERT:
Rocktronica duo Ratatat is a favorite of headbangers and ravers alike thanks to their irresistible mix of colossal riffs and booming beats. Mike Stroud’s six-string heroics and Queen-inspired guitar harmonies perfectly complement the band’s sci-fi synthesizers, and Evan Mast’s thunderous, booming basslines on fan favorites like “Loud Pipes” and “Shiller” always get ticket buyers shaking their moneymakers on the dance floor. In addition to plenty of funky jams, the duo treats audiences to a visual spectacle as psychedelic graphics and laser lights dance across projection screens. Fans that like to rock until the break of dawn and dance the night away will find plenty to love every time Ratatat bring their thumping grooves on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Evan Mast (bass/synth/percussion/production) and Mike Stroud (guitar/synth/percussion) originally met as students at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, but they didn’t begin collaborating on music together until 2001. Using Mast’s production equipment and Brooklyn apartment as their home base, Ratatat independently recorded and released their self-titled debut in 2004. The album helped the band land opening spots for artists as diverse as Björk, Daft Punk, Vampire Weekend, and The Killers. The band picked up even more steam by appearing at popular music festivals and releasing their sophomore outing Classics in 2006. Their next three albums -- LP3 (2008), LP4 (2010), and Magnifique (2015) -- all cracked the Billboard 200, and the band’s fanatical following continued to grow. Ratatat continue to please rock and electronica enthusiasts around the globe with their amazing musicianship, top-notch productions, and psychedelic stage shows.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Awesome lights and great guitar play
by Anonymous on 1/24/16Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New YorkRatatat has very respectable guitar play. The solos and performance was eye capturing and really made you appreciate the guitar play that accompanies all of the electronic sounds that the band utilizes to make their music. The light show was also a great aesthetic touch that forced you to look around the room and interact with the lights. You were able to blow at certain beams to create different textures and be creative in altering the lights in other ways. Overall, this was a great show and one I would go to again, especially as a gift. I got tickets to this concert for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift and she loved it.
Rating: 5 out of 5 amazing show
by gkaranic on 1/22/16The Ritz - RaleighI wanted to go but wasn't initially planning on it for financial reasons. Then my girlfriend and a group of her friends convinced me and I'm glad they did. These guys really put on a great show. The music was on point and the lasers really added to the effect. The whole crowd was definitely feeling it. The opener was OK and the drinks were pricey, but the venue accommodated a lot of people, and overall, I had a fantastic time.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Ratatat is the best live music performance ever
by Kestromb on 1/22/16The Ritz - RaleighSuch a sick show. Amazing visual effects. Light/laser show was absolutely mesmerizing. The entire performance was in a word, spectacular. I really liked how the put the emphasis on the music. The only time one of the performers was semi-illuminated was for "Magnifique" in which Mike Stroud was enveloped in a conical laser-shroud of neon green light. The rest of the show they were constantly silhouetted by the hallucinogenic imagery projected on the screen behind them and the powerful multi-color strobe lights synced to the music. If you haven't seen them live, you are doing yourself a disservice. Book your tickets now for their next show.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 1/20/16Echostage - Washington The show was amazing, but it would have been nice to know it started 3 hours after the doors opened BEFORE we arrived at EchoStage. The tickets said 6:30, Ratatat took the stage at 9:30.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Well worth the 5 year wait
by Shempi on 1/20/16House of Blues Boston - BostonRatatat hadn't performed in Boston for roughly 5 years, which is roughly 5 years too long to go without seeing them in concert. Luckily they didn't miss a beat, and freakin killed it at the House of Blues. I'm actually not a huge fan of the venue (got stuck on the upper floor the last time they were around and couldn't see anything) but floor level was great. Their setlist was pretty great as well, with my only disappointment being they didn't play Rome, but I'm sure I'll find a way to carry on.
