About

DAMIEN RICE IN CONCERT:

Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice began his career in 1991 with indie-rock band Juniper. After the group disbanded in 1998, Rice traveled around Europe for the next year before returning to Dublin to pursue a solo career. Over the course of 12-years Rice has released two full-length albums, two live recordings and an EP. He is best known for his 2002 debut O which was certified Gold in the U.S., selling approximately two million copies worldwide, and featuring the songs “Volcano,” “Cannonball,” and “Blower’s Daughter,” the central pieces of music in Mike Nichols’ Oscar-nominated film Closer. My Favourite Faded Fantasy is Rice’s first album in 8 years and was produced by Rick Rubin and Rice.

    Love his voice!

by Usckarina on 12/13/23Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

The sound was incredible. Kudos to the sound guy/girl. Both Damien and his opening act sounded phenomenal. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I felt too much time went to the opener and I would have rather heard more from him (but Silvia is wonderful). A little bummed he didn't sing anything from the My Favourite Faded Fantasy album.

    Amazing!

by Vegigirl on 12/11/23Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Damien put on an amazing concert as usual. He played up until the last minute the venue let him as the audience kept cheering for more. He’s so sincere and honest, I just love him as an artist and really enjoy his concerts. If he makes it back to the US, I will be there!

The ultimate experience from a spectacular performer

by Sharp Pen on 12/11/23Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

I’ve seen hundreds of artists and hands down his concert is the best (both times) It’s not just a concert it’s an experience. I’ve never been more moved by music and actually felt an array of emotions in and from the music. A very personal experience and you can’t help but admire and appreciate the degree of talent he has. Stripped down just him, acoustics and other instruments he plays. As if it’s possible (and it is) he sounds even better live than his recordings. Not to be missed and never regretted.

    Captivating sounds

by Shananigans on 12/8/23Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Damien Rice posses pipes of magic! He belted out the longest note I've ever heard. We were amazed. His sad songs, his tortured soul writing...it is not predictable yet so incredibly poignant. I have always loved him. I thought he possibly had a new album which I didn't know about..but no..he is just out performing again...we got all the great one's and some of his more experimental new one's . His cello player..from Brazil...incredible voice and darn good on the strings. His opener...From Barcelona..Sylvia Cruz. She apparently was playing to a sold out audience on her own at the Cafe Hotel in LA whi h is known for break out artist. Her voice was beautiful! The venue is amazing as well. The Orpheum Los Angeles. Parking right next door. A historical building, gorgeous. It is a sit down theater..so not much desire to climb out of the rows that are so lacking leg room to go to bathroom or get drinks. This venue is walking distance to some really great restaurants. We ate at Cara Cara..the rooftop venue was gorgeous. We parked at the Orpheum, it was $15..then walked a couple blocks to our dinner reservation before the show.

    Double Dose of Damien Rice!

by Lisa B on 12/8/23Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Damien Rice in concert is like no other. Went to both shows. Monday was great. Highlight: Accidental Babies merged into the end of Rootless Tree on keyboard. Emotional and raw. Tuesday’s show was somehow better- more flawless. Loved Sylvia and Francesca, who had the perfect voice so Damien could do his best duets. Astronaut on Tuesday was other worldly. Tuesday encore of Cold Water with Francesca was haunting with their silhouettes against a blue/lavendar lit backdrop. A double dose of Damien feeds the mind, body and soul.

    No performer like Damien Rice

by Dublinkim on 12/7/23Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

There's just no other kind of performer like Damien Rice. He writes the most beautiful songs, sings with the voice of an angel and can hold an audience in the palm of his hands with his stories and insights into the humans assembled before him. It would be wonderful to see him more than once every 9 years, or to get a new recording out of him - but I'll take what I can get, and 2 nights of bliss being in his audience is well worth the wait.

    Was rebirthed at Damien’s show

by Happy & Healed on 12/7/23Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Damien Rice is a one of a kind artist and vocalist. I feel very lucky he chose to come back to the stage for some shows, as I hadn’t the opportunity to seen him live before! Incredible performance, with moving light show. Bought tickets to Silvia (the openers) show at Hotel Cafe during her set (lol) because I was so moved. Thanks for having her open for you Damien, without that I may have never found her music. Also, the Orpheum is just the best venue sonically and visually.
