About Cincinnati Cyclones

Cincinnati Cyclones at Heritage Bank Center

The ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones play home games on the riverbank of Cincinnati's downtown. Accessible from both the Daniel Carter Beard and Taylor Southgate bridges, the Heritage Bank Center sports complex sits along the same drag as Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium, where the Cincinnati Reds (MLB) and Cincinnati Bengals (NFL) play, respectively. As the winter months approach each year, the Cyclones are a hot ticket, hosting one of the 25 other teams in the ECHL in the nearly 18,000-person arena.

Coach Matt Thomas' Cyclones team is always primed for competitive match-ups, with 14 straight winning seasons from 2006 to 2020. The team is the affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, with the 2020 squad led by veteran sharpshooter Jesse Schultz and captain Justin Vaive. If there's a signature to Cyclones games, it's the team's mascot, Twister, who checks in at "202 pounds of windblown muscle" and slides across the ice on his head during intermissions. And if you're feeling ambitious, Cyclones games are also known for the infamous "Beeramids," stacks of empty beer cans along the corners of the glass that grow as the game goes along (21+ fans only).

Cincinnati Cyclones History

While the Cincinnati Cyclones franchise bounced between ECHL and IHL in their early years, the current iteration of the team joined the ECHL in 2001 and won Kelly Cups in 2008 and 2010. The Cyclones are an affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, but have also been affiliated in the past with the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks. The Canadiens era yielded perhaps the greatest Cyclone player of all time in David Desharnais, who before an illustrious career in Montreal, won the league MVP, Rookie of the Year and scoring titles en route to leading the Cyclones to the 2008 championship. In addition to their Kelly Cups, the Cyclones have won multiple conference championships and division crowns. The historic 2007-2008 team earned the record for the most successful ECHL season of all time, with 55 wins and 115 points.

    Love Cyclones Hockey

by DLMcK on 4/8/24Heritage Bank Center - Cincinnati

I've been a fan since 2008. It's fun watching young players fighting hard to move up in categories and playing their hearts out. We also enjoy the food and special events between periods

    Boring

by Jake on 4/8/24Heritage Bank Center - Cincinnati

Whole experience was under whelming. Lines were long, food was cold and under cooked or old and stale, no in between. The whole game was under whelming. Down time entertainment was bland. I love hockey, i've been to lots of hockey games, in multiple leagues, and venues. This was just not a good product. Was hoping for more, wouldn't do it again...sorry

Cyclones are great, venue needs help.

by Anonymous on 4/2/24Heritage Bank Center - Cincinnati

The games are always great even if the refs aren’t… entertaining and family friendly. The bathrooms need some serious attention and all the stairs should have a railing not just half. The seats are comfortable and spaced well, leaving enough room to move around. Food is severely overpriced and not always the best quality, and they charge Coke/Pepsi prices for 7UP products. Smoothie booth was terrible, don’t waste your $10+. Overall, we love the cyclones and we continue to go but the venue itself could use some sprucing up. Also, they didn’t have souvenir cups available so they were handing out clear plastic cups at a discounted price of $7 with no refills in their place, with no lids! How well do you think that went over with no lids and no cup holders? We ended up having to clean up after a strangers kid beside us who dropped a whole Hawaiian Punch unless we wanted to step and stand in it.

    Great game

Good experience, food services was fast. Seats do need to be larger as there are a lot of bigger people out there.

    Very disappointed

by LCW on 4/2/24Heritage Bank Center - Cincinnati

Drove 45 minutes to Cincinnati to watch the Cyclones game. Didn't get to see it. All parking was for the Red's game except 3/4 of a mile away down by Paycor stadium. Not everyone can walk that far. Very disappointed in the city for totally disregarding Cyclones fans.

    Not the worst ever

by Js on 3/23/24Heritage Bank Center - Cincinnati

The game was great. The glass is incredibly scuffed, which I understand happens but I feel like this is the worst I’ve ever seen. Idk what other places do to keep up. Also, being denied a tray for my cold, hard, gross pretzel with cheese, and being told it was a rule from the center— yikes. I ended up spilling cheese and throwing it all away after 2 bites. Outside of that. Everyone was kind and helpful and I enjoyed my experience.
