    Triple Bill Colorado Ballet

by Kaizeen on 9/14/10University of Denver - Newman Center - Gates Concert Hall - Denver

I loved the fact that each piece was 20-25 minutes long. I liked the simplicity of the costumes. I also enjoyed the middle piece using show tunes and/or love songs from the 40's and 50's. I thought the pianist and trio were wonderful musicians, although the piano could have been a bit louder.

    Wouldn't do it again.

by uuuugh on 9/14/10University of Denver - Newman Center - Gates Concert Hall - Denver

The men were by far better than the women. It's as though the girls didn't decide to wake up until the last act. they were more concerned with looking down to check their feet than getting into the emotion of the dance or eyen making eye contact with their partners. I don't know if it was beacuase it was essentially a series of one act plays instead of a complete storyline that caused this but come on! According to the play bil it is alot of the dancers first season but this is professional and they are charging alot for it- I expected much more. The first half was so unbelievably off synchronization that they should have just given up on trying to be together- or maybe they did. It was also terribly disappointing that there was a live orchestra for only the second of 3 acts. Uuuugh!

    3 Motions was a delight

by Pointe on 4/1/10Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

Absolutely loved this production. It's change of pace was wonderful, and it was nice to simply sit and watch the beauty of the dance without great concern for following a storyline. I found myself really listening to the music and moving in my mind right along with the performers. My favorite? The third perfomance - Celtic. It was so enjoyable to watch. The audience truly left tapping their toes too. I sat next to a gentleman who had been to the matinee performance and enjoyed it so much he returned for the evening. Great way to end the season. I'll be back.

3Motions was a very pleasant evening. The technique of the dancers is very good. However, it was not a spectacular evening, in our opinion, because of the similarity of the pieces in their movements. In other words, it was very good, but there was no real excitement, which is what we look for in dance presentations.

    3Motions

by WScarlett on 3/29/10Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

All 3 pieces were very well done! Loved seeing Celts again; although usually ballet companies don't perform the same ballet within a 5 year span and it's only been 3 years since the last one that Koichi danced in, this was still wonderful to see. The company were spot on; all of them, at every pointe; and it was absolutely fantastic. Being there to witness Janelle's last performance was powerfully moving; the company giving her such a beautiful send off was nothing short of sheer class.

    3motions was so refreshing!

by CattyTMB on 3/29/10Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

I've never been to such a contemporary ballet before. The costumes, hair, and scenery were so modern. I also loved the length of each of the pieces... they felt just right, and the dancers looked like they were really enjoying themselves. Excellent, excellent performance!
