Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players — Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season — making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena

The Vancouver Canucks play their home games at the 475,000-square foot Rogers Arena, which also played host to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games where Sidney Crosby scored the “Golden Goal.” A staple of downtown Vancouver, the Canucks played their first game at the arena on October 9, 1995. Other notable events that have taken place at the arena include the 1998 NHL All-Star Game, 2019 NHL Entry Draft, and in October 2002 when Queen Elizabeth II dropped the ceremonial first puck during an NHL exhibition game between the Canucks and San Jose Sharks. Additionally, the arena played host to Games 1, 2, 5, and 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

    Amazing Experience!

by KevMel on 3/26/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

We had excellent seats in the upper bowl. Everything was so well done. The Jumbotron, with all its info and graphics was awe inspiring. The music was excellent as well. The food options were plentiful. The Canucks played well and the whole experience was top notch! We will return again.

Great way to spend an evening!

by Sam on 3/24/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

We were in the nosebleed section, but still had a great view of the game. We got there early so we could go up close for the warmup. Great atmosphere, and the Canucks won so lots of fun. Tix were expensive, food and drinks as well, long lines for bathroom, but oh well, we knew and expected that.

    Rogers Arena Staff Assistance

    by DO'B on 3/24/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

My brother-in-law from SK s a long-time, diehard Habs fan so he was here for the game on March 21st. He has a medical condition which makes movement a bit challenging although some assistance helps him. By chance we encountered Sonia, a supervisor, working between Gates 1 & 2, with Rogers Arena Security (dressed in a black business suit with white shirt and black tie). Sonia could have not been more kind, considerate or helpful. Without being asked she volunteered to escort us to our seats and to do that we negotiated several restricted areas and an elevator to get us right to where our seats were located (lower bowl). Once there she said if there was any further assistance required all we had to do was flag down an usher and get them to page her. I have not been to a Canucks game in years and years so it was very refreshing to discover such professionalism, kindness and consideration from the Rogers Arena staff. I hope Sonia gets to see this review

    Mikey Liked it !

by Mikey on 2/28/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Great game. A bit pricy. Need to lower the price so that regular people (not the wealthy) can attend!!

    Atmosphere

by Yvs on 1/28/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Hadn’t been to a game in person in a long time, huge change in the arena and atmosphere. I love the game and had fun watching. I will say I found the new huge jumbotron a bit distracting and really dislike the blue shiny helmuts so cheap looking🤷🏻‍♀️ Pretty noisy atmosphere, did appreciate the variety of food and beverage options though a bit pricey in these cash strapped times. May be another few years before I am able to attend again. I did enjoy the game being able to share the experience with my son. Always a fan, Go Canucks go.

    Conner Bedard Xmas gift

by Grandpa Mike on 1/25/24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Brought my grandson to Canucks-Chicago game . Bought the tickets in Sept as a Xmas present so he could see Conner Bedard. Unfortunately Bedard suffered an injury and did not play. Stuff happens so I get it. However I was disappointed there was no video presentation before the game of Bedard addressing his hometown fans as a lot of kids attended the game cause of him asXmas gifts . Would have been a class by the Canucks . Thank you
