New York Knicks History
The Knicks were established in 1946 and are one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America, which became the NBA after merging with the National Basketball League in 1949. The Knicks and Boston Celtics are the only two original NBA teams still located in their original cities.
The Knicks saw early success, advancing to the NBA Finals in three consecutive years from 1950 to 1953. They lost all three series, twice to the Minneapolis Lakers and once to the Rochester Royals. The franchise’s next successful era began in the late '60s, under the tutelage of head coach Red Holzman. They won 54 games in Holzman's first full season as head coach in the 1968–69 season, then improved to 60 wins the following year. The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 1970, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. Holzman won Coach of the Year, while center Willis Reed won NBA MVP and Finals MVP.
Holzman and Reed led the Knicks back to the finals in two of the next three seasons, facing the Lakers both times. They split those two series, winning their second championship in the 1972–73 season.
The Knicks did not experience success again until the '90s, when future Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing led them back to the NBA Finals in 1993–94 and 1998–99. They lost both series, first in seven games to the Houston Rockets, then in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks traded for star Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He proved to be an elite scorer, but team success eluded the Knicks. They made it to the playoffs three times in Carmelo's seven-year tenure with the team, winning one series in 2013.
The Knicks reached the playoffs once again during the 2020–21 season, reinvigorated by power forward Julius Randle, who was awarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player distinction in 2021, and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2023 with the additional firepower of newly acquired point guard Jalen Brunson.

Second visit to MSG and I fall more in love with it each time. Great win for the Knicks v Brooklyn. An electric atmosphere and an unforgettable experience. Until next time.
From Italy, with my best friend, to celebrate our 50th birthday. A dream that we had since we were children, a dream finally realized. The Garden is incredible, an amazing location and the match vs Brooklyn has been an incredible experience. Glad to be there and be a part of Kinck’s history!
It was an awesome experience and I can't wait to go again. The seats were perfect and the area was nice and clean.
Loved the experience at the garden now. Not a bad few in the building. Concessions could use budget friendly alternatives like other arenas but fan experience is very good.
Amazing game !! It was the highlight of my trip. Well organized.
The event was really nice and the organization at the venue was impressive! Only 4/5 stars as the seats were "Wheelchair"seats which was not obvious during the booking process. The seats were OK but the big screen could not be seen and we sat behind a glass window. This window was quite reflective and felt a bit bothersome at times.
Im a tall person and the seats are not prepared for this. The distance to the front row is short and also the glass on the first row is either short or tall bcause its just in the middle and you cannot avoid seeing the glass all the time
Every was fast and reliable. I love the reminders and all the options they provide in case you are not able to assist the event.
The knicks need to work on taking high percentage shots and driving into the paint like Earl the Pearl Monroe back in the day.
