We treated 4 grandchildren ages 8 - 11 to Beauty and the Beast on Sunday. We tried to explain to them what it would be like. It exceeded all their expectations - in the opening scene, the 9 year old boy leaned over and said to me, "Grandma, they are REAL people!" All four sat on the edge of their seats the entire 2 hours - very well done!
I’m not a ballet fan, but my wife is. I took her here for her birthday and also for our anniversary. This is a great venue to experience this type of art and performance. The staff is very friendly, the seats are comfortable, and the acoustics are pretty good.
The ballet was amazing. Costumes, set designs, and music tell the story without the need for a spoken word!
Fabulous performance once again by the Milwaukee Ballet!! Flawless!!
Such an original performance. The choreography, performers, staging, etc. were all on spot. Worth the 2 year wait.
I am so glad that Milwaukee Ballet includes contemporary dance in their lineup as well as classical. The Dances in PUSH were just wonderful! The choreography was just tremendous and showed what dance is supposed to be. The Company really outdid themselves and showed a very emotional interpretation of the pieces. Their technical skill and emotional movement made the pieces a joy to watch.
My wife and I definitely prefer modern vs classic ballet and thought that PUSH was an outstanding example. The choreography and energy on stage could not have been better and we're so glad we chose to attend this performance as we are not (due to too many theater seasons tickets) season ticket holders.
We paid primo price, for a reason. As a former ballerina with the pedigree to follow, I am particular in my opinion. It was my first time bringing my 5 year old granddaughter. She loved it. The only critique I have is someone came and asked my daughter-in-law to put her phone down, during an intermission first, no one was seated near us, second, no one would know she was videoing her daughter inspired by the dancers and choreographers. There was no light, no sound nothing. Choreographers should aspire to inspire, particularly the youngest generation newly exposed to the art. I did appreciate the young dancers that replied to the inquiry of a young 5 year old when she was in awe of their beauty and showed her a simple pirouette. I was grateful no one scolded my granddaughter for attempting to mimic the dancers in front of her seat. Though no one was anywhere near us. I encourage the Milwaukee ballet to embrace the full fare paying audience. You never know who they may be. It was a lovely performance.
Enjoyed the show immensely! Aisles are a little tight, but worth it!
