About

Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”

Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.

After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

    The Legendary night

by Leo on 3/17/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

First concert ever in my life, and I will never forget it. From singing with fellow fans and the energy of the crowd made it all the more sweeter. As I was watching the lead singer I felt like he was making history and I was lucky to be there. Listening to the songs live was insane and now when I hear those songs I will always remember this legendary night.

    AFI continues to amaze

by mavtastic on 3/17/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

I’m used to AFI at more intimate venues so other than the larger venue (I’m short so difficult to see), they were wonderful. They never disappoint and I will always support their shows!

Awesome concert, not so awesome merch info

by xhyrox on 3/15/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

The concert was great, AFI played their hearts out. Couple of things to consider: - The PA system was distorting since the supporting acts, it seems the mix engineer tried to squeeze a lot of volume out of the system but the system couldn't handle it. - I started making line for merch at 2 pm. Just as I was to reach the merch trailer, they closed it because the GA people needed to start going inside by the same lane which sucked. I lost like 3 hours doing a pointless line. - Concession food and drinks were extremely expensive. A water bottle was 7 bucks.

    About what I expected...I guess

by Nate N. on 3/15/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

The venue did a fantastic job with the production of the show. The show itself was okay. It's sad to see how much AFI hates playing music from their past. They weren't very talkative. It seemed like they were just going through the motion. And then to play about the same time as Jawbreaker is sad. I know the show was to honor Sing the Sorrow, but to not even do an encore when there was still 20 minutes available is disheartening. Could have been the best AFI show with some old school songs thrown in at the end, but instead it was just a typical show.

    Best Night Ever!!

by Miss VonFrankenstein on 3/15/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

As a fan of 22 years, and this being my 13th AFI show, I can honestly state that the band poured every ounce of energy and creativity they had in to this special event. Thank you for giving us what we’ve been requesting for so many years!! Through our bleeding, we are one.

    Bad organization

by Carlos on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

The organizers did a horrible job when the gates open there were lines all over the place without having anybody indicating which lines where for what. I spent an hour on a line that people were just forming all over the place, the couple in front of me did not find out they were in the wrong line until the reached the checkpoint. Worst experience of my life in 40plus years of attending concerts.

    Good Night to Reminisce

by Daniel on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

I really enjoyed this record Sing the Sorrow when it premiered. AFI is great at sharing insights. This may be my 5th time seeing AFI. Glad to experience this era again for one night.
