I didn't know. Now I know.
by tyronicus on 8/3/23I had never heard of Malditas before a friend gave me a ticket, but they were clearly well-known to the throngs of fans singing along to their catchy music. They seemed to me like a Mexican version of The Untouchables, in that they took a healthy dose of ska and then shaped it with their own unique, local flavors. (I don't know enough about Chicano culture to say exactly what those flavors are, but the zoot suit vibe was strong.) Incredible energy, tight playing, and a whole lot of fun.
