Todd Rundgren on Tour

Fans never know what to expect from a Todd Rundgren show, which is a testament to his range as a musician. For example, his "The Individualist, A True Star" tour was named so because of its unique format: Along with a set of hits, Rundgren also performed a side of his seminal 1973 LP A Wizard, a True Star. In cities with multiple shows booked, the musician played a different side of the album each night.

No matter where Rundgren's creative muse takes him on a given tour, what stands out is his voice — an instrument that can handle both growling rock and blue-eyed soul — and his charismatic stage presence. Thanks to this versatility, Rundgren has also toured as part of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band and, as a solo artist, opened for Hall & Oates and teamed up with Joe Jackson for a co-headlining tour. In 2019, he joined forces with the Monkees' Micky Dolenz, Christopher Cross and Badfinger's Joey Molland for the "It Was Fifty Years Ago Today – A Tribute to the Beatles' White Album" tour.

Todd Rundgren in Concert

Todd Rundgren first broke into the music business in the late '60s with the band Nazz, for whom he wrote "Open Your Eyes" and "Hello It's Me." He then released several solo albums, including 1972's Something/Anything? (which featured a re-recording of "Hello It's Me") and then founded the rock band Utopia, a group that drew on prog, power-pop and new wave. In 1983, Rundgren released one of his best-known songs, "Bang the Drum All Day."

In addition to his own work, Rundgren is also a well-respected studio artist who's produced albums for Hall & Oates, XTC, Psychedelic Furs and Meat Loaf. Rundgren has also continued to release solo albums, including 2017's White Knight, which featured guest spots from Robyn, Joe Walsh and Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor.

    Wonderful!!!!

    by ChrisMari on 11/11/23

We saw Todd 11/9/23 at the Venetian Theater in LV. Theater was great. But the best was Todd! I've loved his songs since elementary school and could sign most of them. I kept telling my husband he sounded a lot like Bowie, and now find out he was performing some of his songs. We would go see Todd again in a heartbeat! Strong voice - great on-stage personality. Daryl UGGHHH - weak voice and did not enjoy. We left early as Daryl was that bad and now have read the two did an encore together at the end. Wish we'd have stayed to see Todd more.

Amazing, so appreciate this legend and his contribution

    by JM on 10/31/23

Loved seeing Todd by the ocean in beautiful San Diego, and with such a great eclectic set. It’s always fun to preview the songs on Spotify and find the upcoming setlist (setlist.fm) to renew memories of the classics, and hear his newer selections. He still brought it, with a strong voice, and power on the guitar especially in Buffalo Grass (fantastic!), Black Maria (wow), and Unloved Children. Also playing before Daryl Hall was great, and quite complementary as they sang the encores together, but Todd was the real draw for me. The crowd was older (30-75) with lots of appreciation and love toward this master. His body of work is so broad and deep, and you have to understand his contribution and impact to music over 55 years. A legend, ‘a true star’, always unique and fun. His music found my heart, and with deep appreciation thank you for the joy you’ve brought to your fans. The rock & roll hall of fame needed you, and it was so deserved!

    Save your Money

    by Nanc on 6/3/23

Saw him at the Wind Creek in PA, thought it would bring back some 70's good vibes but all it was was an animated muffling of sounds that shouldn't be still touring. Or for the audiences sake, please lip synch and entertain us at least. People were leaving, people were just saying they were waiting for Daryl Hall. We couldn't, we left. Waste of money!

    Honoring Bowie Fabulously!!

    by Bonnie on 10/29/22

I go to all of Todd's concerts & certainly wasn't going to miss he & this incredible group doing Bowie songs. Adrian Belew, Scrote, Angelo Moore, Royston Langdon , Ron Dziubla on sax, Michael Urbano / drums , and the bass player too AND Todd ...sang, played, danced out of their minds for hours ...NO intermission! The audience was singing. dancing, standing, & clapping & screaming after each song ... WOWED by this group! I flew to Akron to see this show & I am SOOOOO glad I did! It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen! I have seen Todd's Beatle Tributes, Daryl Hall & Todd Tour (twice), Todd's Unpredictable Tour, this Bowie Tribute & a lot of previous shows.....he constantly changes it up...with different ideas & musicians. The shows are always GREAT! Thanks for all the touring this year Todd, & thrilling your fans! You make life wonderful!

    AWFUL and Dissapointing

by Lindarae on 8/27/22The Cabot - Beverly

Todd has always been one of my favorite artists. I was so looking forward to hearing the favorites from my past. I would have been open to anything new he had as well as I am a fan of HIS music. The first few songs were great and the energy was amazing. He chose to get political as well as inform the crowd after playing a great cover of Weezers Hash Pipe that we had paid for the Tickets and despite him playing what he wanted to-- too bad for those who didnt want to hear what he wanted to play because he already had our money. He also told the crowd who should vote and who should not vote. I stayed until he played "Patches" it was a terrible song in the 70's and he did not make it any better. Will not recommend or see him again

Todd is an awesome performer! His voice is still strong.

by A teacher and fan since 1970’s on 7/29/22Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

I’ve been following Todd since Central Park in the 70’s and still enjoy his music and performances! He is so very talented and unique…. Keep going Todd and come back to sugar loaf or bethel. I’ll be there and enjoy every moment! Thanks for the memories. Although there are many songs I would have liked to hear that I believe you could still perform well. But I follow you on Todd radio. Or play my vinyls. A+ is your grade.
