About

JERRY LEE LEWIS IN CONCERT:

Legendary rock and roller-turned-country crooner Jerry Lee Lewis is living proof that septuagenarians can still rock. The Killer, as Lewis is affectionately known by fans, still possesses the same spitfire energy that propelled hits like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" to No. 1 in the '50s, working the piano like a man half his age at his throwback live shows. Taking the stage with his sister and niece at his 2014 shows, Lewis cranked out marathon sets of his beloved rock hits, thrilling fans both young and old with his timeless, tireless showmanship.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Louisiana, Lewis's parents mortgaged the family farm to buy him his first piano. After being kicked out of bible school for surprising a church assembly with a boogie woogie version of "My God Is Real," Lewis begin playing in clubs around Mississippi and Tennessee, hoping to land a record deal in Nashville. His break came when Sun Records realized his talent, recording his early songs and eventually releasing his breakthrough hits "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" in 1957. After family troubles steered him away from music in the late '50s, he returned to the game in the late '60s with a countrified sound, climbing the charts once again with hits like the 1968 No. 1 "To Make Love Sweeter For You." With a career that spans more than half a century, Lewis is nothing if not a seasoned performer, continuing to entertain audiences with his piano theatrics well into his seventies.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Jerry Lee Lewis put on an absolutely inspired performance of full throttle rock and roll mixed with the usual blend of country ballads and Mississippi Blues. Fantastic performance..."

"Jerry Lee has always been the master showman and even though he didn't stand up on the piano or set it on fire, does not mean that he put any less energy into his show."

"Jerry lee didn't miss a beat on the piano! So glad I got to see him."

    Almost torturous

by LastManStanding on 9/4/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

The performance was not worth the $97 for one ticket. The person I went with, however, enjoyed the show.

Jerry Lee Lewis is still amazing on the keyboard

by SouthernOregonCouple on 9/4/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

He walked to the piano using a cane but that didn't slow down his performance. Crystal Gayle was amazing too. We thoroughly enjoyed her performance.

    Good, but very short, show

by HomerinSactown on 9/4/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

While he was on-stage, Jerry Lee sounded strong and played with good energy. Unfortunately, after about a dozen songs (maybe 40 minutes, total) he was done for the night. I'm glad to have had the chance to see a living legend of rock 'n roll, but I feel like someone should have been upfront about the length of the show before tickets were bought.

    Jery Lee Lewis Concert 8-31-2018

by Anonymous on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Jerry Lee was amazing for his age. He pounded the piano and sang some of the songs that I remember from back in the 50's. I always enjoy seeing the singers and musicians from my era because they're a fading generation....

Jerry Lee Lewis at Thunder Valley Casino

by Wing1Ding on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Crystal Gayle and her band opened for Jerry Lee and were truly awful, not a good beginning. But Jerry Lee Lewis, that’s another story. Jerry Lee was just amazing. He can barely walk and has to walk with a cane, but once he sits down at the piano, he is right at home, especially for an 82 year old. His voice is totally shot, but who goes to see JLL for his vocal chords? He plays the piano like he’s 20 years old, engaged with the audience and just oozes charisma. I’m a big fan of Jerry Lee’s country and western songs, and he did a lot of C&W(You Win Again, Don’t Leave No Headstone on My Grave, She Even Woke Me to Say Goodbye and a Gene Autry sing). Jerry Lee’s set lasted about an hour in total, I’d guess 10-12 songs. It was just fabulous to see an 82 year old living legend do his thing live. I drove from Oakland to Thunder Valley Casino in Friday afternoon Labor Day weekend traffic, about a 3 hour drive in stop and go traffic, and it was well worth the drive.

    Nostalgic evening!

by Jobedi on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Two great stars of our past. Enjoyed both entertainers, Crystal Gayle and Jerry Lee Lewis, but it was a bit sad. Both have given me great memories. The enthusiasm was apparent but I'm afraid they have passed their prime. Every minute brought back something special from our past. I'm not sure I would attend again but I'm glad we were there for this event.

    Great Performances

by Sailguy on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

OK, Jerry Lee and Crystal are past their prime, but they are still amazing artists. Crystal Gayle has hardly lost anything from her beautiful voice. She interacts so well with the audience, plus she is surrounded with first-class, personable musicians, including her sister, Peggy Sue. Jerry Lee Lewis doesn't have a lot of voice left, but he still plays a great piano like no other. With his enormous history and influence, watching him now is a great experience. He, too, had great backup musicians. My wife and I loved both performances.

Crystal Gayle’ performance was just so-so. Her voice was weak, would have loved to see Brenda Lee instead. Jerry Lee was just AWESOME!! Would do it again!

    Jerry Lee Lewis......Mercy!

by ChalkWarner on 9/3/18Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

The Jerry Lee Jewis band took the stage and in no time had the audience moving and a grooving. The lead guitarist Kenny Lovelace, sang a song or two and by the time he was done, the crow was primed and ready for The Killer. Walking on from stage left, Jerry Lee took his place at the piano and kicked things into high gear with the Chuck Berry classic, Roll over Beethoven. In good form, Mr. Lewis blast though the night with hit after hit, clearly enjoying himself, his band and the audience. Even the security guards were digging the show. Without a doubt, Jerry Lee Lewis is the real deal....

    Great experience

Jerry Lee must have been a sight to see in his hay days. Crystal Gayle was absolutely wonderful.
