About

Phil Collins in Concert

Born in West London in 1951, Phil Collins started playing drums at the age of five. His musical career began in earnest when he joined Genesis as a drummer in 1970, later becoming the group's lead vocalist in 1975 when Peter Gabriel departed. In 1981, he launched his solo career, releasing a string of pop albums that catapulted him to the immense profile he enjoys today. Phil Collins has released eight studio albums over the course of his solo career, along with three compilations, two soundtracks and more than forty singles. Of Collins' many releases, his third studio album, No Jacket Required, secured his greatest acclaim. It features notable tracks like "Sussudio" and "One More Night," both of which have received countless pop-culture references throughout the years. Collins is one of the legends of the 1970s and 1980s, a member of the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Modern Drummer Hall Of Fame and a musical influence to later musicians like Mike Portnoy, Taylor Hawkins, Nick D'Virgilio and many others.

Former Genesis member Phil Collins has achieved a level of solo success few others can claim. Collins' tour dates, such as his 2017 Not Dead Yet Tour, have seen him travel the United Kingdom. Other tours, like his 1997 The Trip Into The Light Of The World Tour, his 1985 No Jacket Required Tour, and 1983 Hello, I Must Be Going Tour, have taken him throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania. As a solo act, Phil Collins is praised for his brilliant Pop songwriting, laced with elements from the other genres in which he's fluent like jazz, rock and fusion. His strong vocals, intricate drum parts and generous use of 1980s-style keyboard synths add to the richness of his sound. In concert, audiences can marvel as Collins sits majestically, belting out hits while his large band provides ample accompaniment. Collins' son Nicholas is often present, dazzling crowds with drumming just as impressive as his father's. Phil Collins' music has garnered impressive numbers. His albums have sold more than 150 million units worldwide. He's been nominated for more than 20 Grammy Awards. He's won 7 Grammys, along with various American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Brit Awards (and more) as he continues to record and perform across the globe.

In 2015, Collins remastered his eight solo albums with previously unreleased material and came out of retirement. In 2017, he started The Not Dead Yet Tour, named after his autobiography released in 2016. After many tour legs around the world, Collins is coming back to the U.S. for 15 dates.

Your music saved and healed me

    by D. G. on 8/4/20

We tend to not know how our actions impact someone unless we are told. My bucket wish is to have a cup, or two, of coffee and great conversation with Phil so I can tell him how his music impacted me since 2003. I have many life events and his music got through. 2004 Mad Sq Gar the rhythms and beats for verbal mental abuse. Oct 2018 in DC rhythms and Take Me Home for Mom dementia/alz passing, and Oct 2019 in Omaha NE for good life. In 2018 and 2019 concerts I felt Phil needed to see and hear us, his fans, just as much as we needed to see and hear him!:)

    Great concert

by MikeB on 12/8/19CHI Health Center Omaha - Omaha

I had a great time listening to Phil Collins on his latest tour. The music was a great selection from Genesis to his solo career. His son was playing one set of drums. The other musicians were with Phil most of his career. Would highly recommend if you like his music.

    Phil Collins Very Much Alive

by Cottontop4 on 11/12/19Madison Square Garden - New York

I have seen Phil perform with Genesis on numerous occasions. Several times with the original members of the group and once with Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. Phil is an outstanding percussionist, vocalist and song writer. His performance at Madison Square Garden was wonderful. The set list included many songs from his career that I wanted to hear performed. I also really like Daryl Strummer, the guitar player he tours with. The audience enjoyed his performance very much. It was great seeing Phil's son handle the drum work for the tour. I kind of wish Phil would have played a little, but I understand his preference to give another family member a chance. My only disappointment for the night was the bass player. I don't understand why so many people feel obligated to make a musical event reflect their personal politics. The bass player had the word "resist" in large letters taped on his guitar. I'm not really interested in his politics and I'm surprised Phil Collins would give into allowing a member of his band to make any kind of political statement. Doing so alienates about half the audience! In spite of this, I really enjoyed the show, many of the performers I liked seeing when I was younger are not touring much anymore and I'm glad I got to see Phil again before he calls it quits.

Phil delivered a top notch performance.

by Annie on 11/10/19Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

Although dealing with health issues, Phil delivered a high energy, professional performance. He loved his audience and his audience loved him. His band and his son are talented musicians, no one missed a beat. So glad I had this chance to catch him for perhaps his last tour.

Phil Collins is one of the best 80’s artists ever! It was a pleasure to see him perform. Special treat seeing his son follow in his footsteps!

the lines to get in were very backed up

by Roni on 11/5/19Pepsi Center - Denver

A lot of people didn't get into the building efficiently. There were still some stragglers when Phil got on stage. I'm glad he waited a bit after 8 to come out on stage.
