    Lindsey Buckingham Rocks!

by GregFromUrbandale on 11/4/22Hoyt Sherman Place - Des Moines

Lindsey Buckingham and a three piece band rocked hard in Des Moines on a beautiful Saturday night (10/29/22). The venue, Hoyt Sherman Place - a fabulous historic theater housed in a restored 1800’s mansion once owned by William Tecumseh Sherman’s brother - sounded great, and the fan-vibe was positively electric. I was lucky enough to be at the pre-show sound check where, after the first of three songs, Lindsey commented to the band that the “stage-sound [was] great”. The sound from my seat, both then and during the show an hour or so later, was equally awesome. Lindsey’s guitar playing continues to be phenomenal. I saw him at the same venue on a solo tour eight or nine years ago, where his guitar and voice literally carried the show - he played like a wild, crazy man with nothing to lose (don’t think it was going well with FM at the time - it almost seemed cathartic for LB); it was awesome! Now, a decade later, he’s still wailing away, but he’s well supported by a drummer, keyboardist, and fellow guitarist. The harmonies with Lindsey and the boys was spot-on, almost as if it must be pre-recorded because it was SO tight. Also, Lindsey and the band played incredibly well instrumentally off of each other. It was a pleasure to hear that, as well as to see how much the band enjoyed playing together, and their obvious love of being on-stage. It was truly a great show. In terms of the pre-show package, it was worth it to have access to the aforementioned sound check, where Lindsey and the boys had work to do but gave off an overall positive vibe from the stage. As with the show a bit later, Lindsey made nice comments about Des Moines and the beautiful venue, which were greatly appreciated both in the moment and upon later reflection (rock stars don’t always know where they’re at - Jackson Browne, for example). Finally, I’ve seen Lindsey both solo and with a band that didn’t include Stevie and Mick (apologies to the current band if any are named Mick or Steve), and I’ve seen him twice with Fleetwood Mac - his guitar playing and vocals have been amazing - almost record-like - every time without fail (he’s really proficient); but, his sheer joy of playing in an intimate theater, and his obvious lack of stress in doing so, is, in my opinion, quite palpable, and a joy to behold. In this case, on a gorgeous late-October Saturday night in Des Moines. Bravo!

    Theatre accessability

by gpchoochoo on 11/2/22Hoyt Sherman Place - Des Moines

We were supposed to have accessible seats. They were not. They were regular theatre seats which were way too low for people with physical needs.

    Lindsey's Show in Des Moines

by SteveIA on 11/2/22Hoyt Sherman Place - Des Moines

This performance had a lot of potential – Lindsey is a spectacularly talented guitarist and a real creative talent. He was a longtime member of one of the most successful groups in rock history, and he's gone on to a successful run on his own. So I was expecting a great evening. Hoyt Sherman Auditorium is a wonderful venue and I've seen many great musical performances there. The house was packed and the audience was really excited. The problem was that the sound level was just too loud. Halfway through the first song I realized that I needed to protect my hearing, so I put some earbuds I happened to have with me in my ears for the rest of the show. It would have been so much better if the volume had been lower. For comparison, I've seen Baz Scaggs there three times, and the sound has always been perfect. Someone needs to get a clue.

    Ok Show

by Wooddr on 11/1/22Hoyt Sherman Place - Des Moines

Hoyt Sherman is the best facility to see a concert that being said Lyndsey Buckingham I think was not up to doing concerts at 100%, he seemed out of breath at several points in the show he also at least to me and my wife just did not look well, maybe he got back on the concert tour ritual too soon after cancelling the European tour from being ill and is not completely recovered. I think he tried to do the best he could under those circumstances.

    I survived it

by Bunny on 11/1/22Hoyt Sherman Place - Des Moines

Lindsey was incredible (5 stars) but the volume was too much for the small venue. Was very uncomfortable sitting through the show while the whole room and my whole body strongly pulsated to the music. Stuffed all the tissue I could into my ears but they were still overwhelmed by the volume of the music, and the sound quality suffered from it. Was fatigued and headachy the whole next day while recovering from the assault. Why can't music professionals size the speakers/volume to the venue?

“One of the Best of the Best!”

    by Kyle Man on 5/1/22

I have seen pretty much everyone from Clapton to Pink Floyd & U2 & Moodys and everyone in between and Lindsay Buckingham is definitely in the top three of the all-time shows I’ve seen his guitarmanship was Phenomenal and precise and singing was truly amazing. If you have the opportunity to see him do it you’ll thank me...Nuff said!”

    Fantastic show

by Norcalgirl on 4/20/22South Shore Room at Harrah's Lake Tahoe - Stateline

We were up at Harrahs for another event and saw Lindsey was playing so booked tickets. The show was phenomenal! His voice was impeccable and thinking about his guitar playing just gave me cold chills. Only bummer was the gal behind us singing OFF KEY and LOUD to the Fleetwood Mac songs. I'm certain Lindsey heard it during Trouble since our seats were close. I saw with the microphone setup someone was missing and since read that Brett Tuggle is ill. Hope he joins the tour soon. I would love to see them with him playing too.
