About

Amélie captured our hearts in the five-time Oscar®-nominated film. Now she comes to Broadway in a magical new musical starring Phillipa Soo (Hamilton, The Great Comet), directed by Tony Award® winner Pam MacKinnon (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), with a book by Pulitzer Prize and Tony nominee Craig Lucas (The Light in the Piazza), music by Daniel Messé and lyrics by Nathan Tysen & Messé. Embark on a mesmerizing journey with shy but inquisitive Amélie as she turns the streets of Montmartre into a world of her own imagining, while secretly orchestrating moments of joy for those around her.

    Classic Amelie

by Cabrio118 on 2/4/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Wow is what i thought sbout after seekng this show. So sweet, and elegant. Amelie was a great show and fantastic music and acting. I'm so surprised it did not last longer on broadway. I didn't know what to expect but i do know I didn't expect to really feel the show on such a personal level. I was taken in from the first minute Amelie took the stage. The set was beautiful and the entire cast was so delightful. I hope it comes back again bc i would see it most definitely.

by Maytealzuga on 6/5/17Walter Kerr - NYC

Such a shame this closed. It was a gem. I saw it in March. Bf got tickets for my birthday. I loved it. Wanted to take a friend for her birthday and it's no longer available. Very sad.

    Amelie, what a disappointment!

by Rbono85 on 5/30/17Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

The play was disappointing. The plot was pitiful. The beginning was great and it looked like it will be a nice play. The young lady playing young Amelie is very talented. Ms. Soo's voice was beautiful. They were not enough however to save this play. There was no story, the music was mediocre. Once the man fish came out, and the ballon person fell, I knew we were in for an ackward piece. What was the agenda in counting orgasms and the sex toys? Those were not essential to the story. Why were they in it at all? This play was a huge disappointment. After listening to Ms. Soo on original soundtracks of Hamilton and The Great Comet of 1812, we expected an exciting play. Not sure why she agreed to play this role. If it was not for Ms. Soo, this play would have closed opening night. I bought 5 tickets and did not get the value for it. Also the ushers were rude.

So Sweet, So Sorry it Closed

    by BJSG on 5/25/17

Too bad NY theater is so dependent on the announcement of the Tony Awards. The play was charming, the cast wonderful.

    Amelie was great light-hearted fun

    by katieba on 5/25/17

My husband and I loved the show. It was entertaining, light-hearted, and a ton of fun. The cast was phenomenal and you could see that they were all having a great time. We loved the live musicians being elevated. The only thing that I felt that the show as missing was more of the original soundtrack from the movie. But otherwise, it was wonderful.

    it closed

    by Nube17 on 5/24/17

I Can understand why was no hit. Philipa Soo was a dream but the rest were flat and the story was unhinged , I am glad I saw it closing day but that's hit. Leaving" Hamilton " and the readings for "Comet for this was not the best move in my humble opinion.

    A Beautifully Crafted Musical

    by SistersPickle on 5/24/17

Everyone involved lovingly handcrafted this wonderful show 8 times a week. I'm so sad it played its final performance on Broadway.

Amelie was so much better than the previewers said

    by EJFan2011 on 5/24/17

Going with reduced expectations following reviews we were engaged and engrossed for the entire performance. Phillipa Soo was made for the role and was more than ably supported by a wonderful cast. Minimalist set, maybe, but it did not need more. So very disappointed for those who will not get to see this now closed show. Hopefully, it goes on the road and survives in other forms. Can't wait to see what Ms Soo does next!

    Amelie will be missed

    by BDWAYTNA on 5/24/17

It's unfortunate that such a great play closed its doors so prematurely. This play was engaging, vocally fantastic and the two leads: Philippa Soo & Adam Chanler-Berat had some of the best chemistry and it looked extremely genuine. It will be missed!
