About Real Bodies

At the center of Real Bodies, the groundbreaking exhibit on view at Bally's Las Vegas, are these lyrics by Leonard Cohen: "You're locked in your body, it's a kind of trial. You can use it for a weapon, or to make someone smile."

Real Bodies presents 20 real, perfectly preserved human bodies and more than 200 anatomical specimens — the most startling and vivid depiction of human anatomy presently available to the public. The exhibit, which has been on display at Bally's since opening in 2016, allows visitors to explore a series of galleries full of displays of actual human bodies preserved via a process called "plastination," which replaces organic materials with plastic that prevents decay. It gives visitors an intimate look at the inner mechanics of the human body, revealing the astoundingly complex networks of flesh and blood that comprise our muscular, circulatory, nervous, and digestive systems. It's a science lesson that delves into the sort of in-depth detail typically available only to medical students, surgeons, and coroners.

More than that, Real Bodies is also a beautiful, emotional journey into what it means to be human, demonstrating not only the miraculous inner workings that we all share but also pointing toward the ultimate purpose of these fleshy forms of ours. The exhibit reveals the synergy between breathing, hunger, the rhythm of the heart, love, motion, thought, and medicine that makes each person unique, asking visitors to explore what makes them who they are — and what they choose to do with the body they've been given. System by system, the exhibition provides an approachable and fascinating journey into what's happening inside every one of us.

I work in Orthopedics, so it was really neat to see all the bones and muscles. Well worth the price of tickets and time spent.

    Very well done

I had previously gone to a Body Worlds exhibit, which I enjoyed so much I swore I’d go back. This isn’t Body Worlds, and in some ways it was slightly inferior, but it was still highly enjoyable. Two things bothered me. 1) It was exceedingly cold in the exhibit and then they added fans. Even my husband, who is a really big guy, was cold. And 2) I would have paid more for gift shop items NOT made in China. Please don’t tell me you’re inclusive because you care about people and then sell items made in a known slave labor country. I can’t and didn’t support that.

    Definitely makes you go hmmmm!

Interesting exhibit. I didn’t see (and I might have missed it) the back story of who is benefiting from these bodies. Are the surviving family members receiving a percentage of the profits? And how long will these exhibits last displayed In this state? What or how do they clean them? Very educational and intriguing and a little concerning! I really don’t know how I feel about it all.

Amazing exhibit. It’s smaller than others I’ve seen but just as detailed and interesting.

    HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

I took 3 middle school boys (we were in town for a basketball tourney) and they loved it! Asked tons of questions. Amazing how kids DO WANT TO LEARN when science is presented in a visually engaging manner. Don't miss out on the infant/embryo section. While sad that these children died (all of natural causes) it was extremely beneficial to see all the developmental stages.

    Not what we expected

It just seemed to us that there was not a lot to see for what they advertised. Very disappointed

I was in LV for an educators conference and had to stop by and see Bodies. I am so glad I did! This was such an amazing experience. I recommend getting there right upon opening so you dont deal with the crowds and can take your time. There is a lot of reading.
