    not what I expected

    by first-timer on 6/7/23Ohio Stadium - Columbus

My first time in OH. My now middle school aged daughter asked if George Strait toured again if we could go. This was the closest venue. Had Floor 5th row tickets. Parking was a nightmare, was sent to wrong garage for prepaid parking but had me park there anyway. Across from the outdoor stage, a dozen religious protestors picketed and rivaled the sound with their megaphones condemning all of the people in the gated drinking area for their sins and engaged with the drunk people. Only 2 gates allowed floor seating so that took a while to get through. Took 35 minutes to get through the merchandise line. Music level from the speakers was perfect before the concert started, it was loud but didn't require ear plugs. You could talk others without yelling. For Warren Zeiders, sound level was turned up a little, ear plugs made it more comfortable, but every new performer, the music was turned up louder. Little Big Town was a little louder and for sure required ear plugs. For Chris Stapleton it was loud even with ear plugs. I had to go to the first aid station and get hearing protection for my daughter, her ears were killing her. When George came out, it was so loud that the strings on my plugs were vibrating against ears and your chest felt like someone was jumping on it, for his encore, it was even louder and I had to put my hands over my ears and the bass was physically pushing against your body. There is no excuse for this. People were complaining and left early because of the pain it caused in their chest. Floor seating had plastic folding chairs that were very small (smaller than economy airline tickets) and zip-tied tight together. My daughter and I fit in the seats but the guys on either side of this did not and we were wedged in against them if we sat down. The four people in front of us completely ruined much of our experience. They must have won the tickets. One young woman had no female personal hygiene and it was a cloud that wouldn't go away. Our heads hurt just from breathing that. Everyone one around could hardly stand it. Her boyfriend or brother, not sure, smelled like he didn't know how to wipe properly. As if these two weren't enough, the dad of the group was plastered and lit a cigarette and I had to yell at him to put it out. The combo of these people and the volume of the concert made for a terrible experience. Anyone that had seats behind the limited access staircases for the floor never got a view of the stage. You could see on their faces how frustrated they were never being able to see behind the line of drunk people trying to navigate up and down the steps and falling into them. One very short female usher on the floor needed to be doing any other job but this one, as she was mean and unhelpful to everyone and clearly enjoyed having the power of working the floor area (granted a lot of drunk people were running toward the stage, but she was mean before the majority of the people were hammered.) On the positive side, the weather was perfect and all of the performers were fantastic. There was nothing about the atmosphere there that was family friendly and I would not recommend bringing children there. I realize that this is a festival, but the amount of beyond drunk people there was not necessary. Getting away from the concert was better than I expected, but there were a lot of people driving drunk that were swerving all over the roads. Being in the big stadium was really neat and I could imagine how exciting it would be to watch a football game there. I am glad I had the experience of being in that stadium & atmosphere and for my daughter to see George, but I would never go back to Buckeye Fest. The amount of money I paid for the seats we had was not worth the actual experience.

    Time of my life

Love the venue. Only thing that sucked was the restroom wait but there is a way around that too. Pick your battles! I would for sure do it all over again !!!

Great / fun // love to hear George / overpriced

by blmlcm on 6/1/23Ohio Stadium - Columbus

My only concern was the ticket price. Very expensive, overpriced. And when I say overpriced I don’t mean a bad show. It was a great show. No one should have to pay almost $300.00 to have to stair at large screen on the sides because you can’t see them on stage

    Could Have Been Better

    by Mom24 on 6/1/23Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Absolutely love Little Big Town and George Strait. They were tons of fun, enjoyed them very much. The sound system however at Ohio Stadium was not great. Tons of reverb, extremely hard to hear lyrics and understand them. Heard lots of people talking about it exiting the concert as well. Additionally, it was kind of weird that Chris Stapleton didn't engage with the crowd at all. Maybe an off night? Certainly not Entertainer of the Year stuff.

    Underwhelming

by Latest Greatest Straitest on 6/1/23Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Traffic was bad, $25 for parking is ridiculous, long walk to the venue, every single part of the stadium was crowded, long lines for everything, no way I'd pay $40 for a t-shirt, limited food options. Not only was the stadium very grey and plain, but the bleacher seating was ridiculous and uncomfortable. It's laughable that such a "prestigious" university and football team calls this dump home. The show was great but you couldn't even see anything from the cheap seats. No hotel rooms available anywhere so I had to leave early just to beat traffic to drive home to Cleveland. Poor decision making by whomever let BCS and Sonic Temple get scheduled on the same weekend. Overall very disappointing experience. However, Chris Stapleton killed it and George Strait was nothing short of legendary. The two of them are the reason I chose 3 stars instead of 2.
