ST. PAUL AND THE BROKEN BONES IN CONCERT:

St. Paul and the Broken Bones bring a youthful enthusiasm to their flashback sound, reviving Southern soul right down to the matching suits each band member wears. Lead singer Paul Janeway tears through each song with unbridled passion, swaying to the rhythm as he skillfully navigates each crescendo and vocal trill. The band adds smooth basslines, banging drums, and blaring horns to breathe life into each soulful serenade and rocking rhythm. Ticket buyers won’t be able to resist each classic style this sextet plays, from pumped-up dancefloor anthems like “Call Me” to gracefully building gospel ballads such as “Like a Mighty River”. Anyone with a funky bone in their body will dig the old school vibes and undeniable grooves of St. Paul and the Broken Bones in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Paul Janeway was studying to become an accountant in 2012, having finally resigned to “make something of himself” when soul music called his name. Rekindling a few old connections, he started St. Paul and the Broken Bones with several Birmingham, AL musicians. The first time they played together was to record a four song EP in 2013, forming an immediate and undeniable chemistry in the studio. After signing with Single Lock Records, the group released their critically praised debut Half the City. The album caught the attention of The Rolling Stones, who hired the soulful sextet to open for them on their 2015 Zip Codes Tour. While they work on their second full-length album, St. Paul and the Broken Bones continue to use their winning blend of gospel and soul to electrify audiences who can’t get enough.

    NOT SO PHENOMINAL **ADA** SEATING

by Peggie on 4/17/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

If I could give the band (both bands actually - check out LA LOM) 10 stars I would. But I give only 2 stars for The Fillmore because although the staff was super friendly and willing to accommodate, the reserved seats for ADA are absolutely the worst seats I've had in 45 years of concert-going. I can stand only for around 5-10 minutes so requested the ADA accommodation. Seats are next to the soundboard, which is on around a 6"riser. SEATED 6"off the floor with people directly in front of you — like 2' away. Who possibly thought this is OK or accommodating? The rest of the crowd had a rockin' time, as did I. The show was nothing short of my expectation — absolutely amaze-balls.

    PHENOMINAL

by Peggie on 4/17/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

So underrated. Heard one song and bought 3 vinyls off the SP&TBB website. As talented in person, plus you get to listen AND watch. See them if you can ... you'll definitely not regret it. A+++++

Excellent! Lively! One of the best shows I’ve been to in a couple years. Easy access. Cheaper drinks and ease of getting around. Clean and fun!

    Amazing show with some caveats

by Cole on 3/26/24Avondale Brewing Co. - Birmingham

St Paul absolutely nailed it. Couldn’t have asked for a better 10 yr anniversary for Half The City album. My problem isn’t with the performer, but with Avondale. I like Avondale’s venue, but they’ve over complicated and layered the ticket levels. We bought VIP, thinking that would entail everything below it, but we find out there were many things that were separate “add-ons” not included.

    Great show!

by TrixieP on 3/6/24Jefferson Theater - Charlottesville

First time seeing this group - fantastic show - lots of energy - Lead singer has a lot of swagger and personality, but I liked how he allowed the musicians their solo time - as a group and individually - by leaving the stage from time to time. Also enjoyed his visit to the balcony - where my party was. My only complaint - about 45 minutes wait between the opener and main act. The stage was already set, so just a waste of time especially late on a Sunday night.
