    Major Disappointment

by tonygoodlife on 10/24/10Beacon Theatre - New York

The worst show I have ever seen. Elvis Costello was reduced to whistling a song. Such great head liners and the production was awlful. There was no energy. No great hits. VERY BAD

    Speaking Clock show

by nickinmdn on 10/22/10Beacon Theatre - New York

This was completely over the top. Everyone was great !! I was really wanting to see Elton and Leon but am really glad I saw this instead. The young talent The Punch Brothers and Secret Sisters we fantastic. John Melencamp , Elvis Costello , Jeff Bridges and please see Ralph Stanley if you get a chance. This was as good as anything I've see ever !! In over 40 years of concerts. I hope they put out a DVD. If you get the chance see these folks while you still can. They are getting old but they can still give you a thrill.

    A night to remember

by ClefNotes on 10/22/10Beacon Theatre - New York

The generation that remembers the Fillmore East and the Grand Ballroom got a show of its own Wednesday night. No, not one of those Branson, Vegas-style, or sports-arena "greatest hits" charades but the non-ADHD version of what music once was and still should be. Real instruments and real voices were on display as seasoned masters listening to each other at less than eardrum-piercing levels cooked up a hearty stew for the mellowed crowd to savor. The total was more than the sum of the parts as veterans like Elvis Costello, John Mellencamp, Gregg Allman, and Ralph Stanley joined with "new-old" American roots players--among them the Punch Brothers, the Secret Sisters--behind a solid back-up organization to give the audience a window into the past and look into the future, all under the watchful eye of master alchemist T-Bone Burnett. Leon Russell and Elton John provided the final burnishing to the patina of the still-resplendent shine of the authentic twentieth-century American musical experience.

Mellencamp and Allman Awesome, others not so much

by SadderThanSad on 10/22/10Beacon Theatre - New York

John Mellencamp and Greg Allman were stars, and Ralph Stanley and Jim James were wonderful, but I felt as though I wasted my money on a lot of music I did not expect or enjoy AT ALL and expecting to see Elton and Leon. But really, is that the best they could do??? Not even one familiar song??? I did not hear one happy person all evening. Not a single tune got us on our feet.

by LeonRocks on 10/22/10Beacon Theatre - New York

What can I say? All the talent that performed were top-notch and thoroughly entertaining. Too many highlights to mention - Greg Allman, Elvis Costello, Leon, Elton, Mellencamp, Punch Brothers, Ralph Stanley, Jeff Bridges. What else IS there to say? Go if there are any more shows.
