Amazing production!
Cadillac Palace - Chicago
This play was as if not better than the movie. The cast played it so perfect. I would see it again if they came back to town. Made me cry.

What a delightfully fun show!
Cadillac Palace - Chicago
It is sad to have to recommend a show that is already closed! I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The acting, singing and dancing were all awesome. While I really loved Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze in the movie, the couple that played Baby and Johnny were very, very good. If it comes back or if you travel to another place where it's showing....GO SEE IT!!

Dirty Dancing Delightful!!
Cadillac Palace - Chicago
Dirty Dancing at the Cadillac was nothing short of Amazing!!!! the scenery and lighting was nothing short of unbelievable! I have never seen such a creative use of lights for a theatre performance. the dancers were polished and very professional. There was just enough of the movie parts to be really enjoyable. The racial tension overtones was a little odd but not too annoying. Wish I could see it again.

True to the movie
Cadillac Palace - Chicago
I was pleasantly surprised how true they stayed to the storyline of the movie. I especially liked the set and the use of the background graphic to change the mood and setting. Keeping most of the soundtrack intact was a plus, and the voices were excellent, especially Jennlee Shallow on "You Don't Own Me" and Doug Carpenter. The dancing was terrific throughout by the entire cast.

Rent the movie. Spare yourself this agony.
Cadillac Palace - Chicago
I am having a tough time thinking of thinking of what to write because it was laughably bad, to no fault of the performers. They are only given what they are to sing or say, and therein lies the problem. This musical might have had a great cast, but you'd never know it because of a ridiculous lack of dialog and character development. Had I not watched the movie years ago, it would have been hard to understand the story, and even with some context, the whole thing was just awful. AWFUL. Scenes after scene after boring scene. The attempts to bring the 1963 hot political topic of racial integration into the storyline was idiotic, unbelievable, and just a pandering attempt at making this mess of a show have some sort of social commentary. The experience could best be described as dance sequences interrupted by a few sentences of dialog and tables and a bed moving all around the stage for scene changes. Repeat. I cannot forgive the producers of this kaflamma for allowing it to return to stage. If it was this bad before going to London and a revamp, I can not imagine how terrible it must have been originally.

A fun way to remember the highlights of the movie
Cadillac Palace - Chicago
This play was a great way to relive the best moments of Dirty Dancing. Although hard to re-do the entire movie, the director was ingenious in trying to get his points across. Although a little cheesy at times, I think the actors new it and played along. It's an iconic movie with great music. Thanks for the fun afternoon. My only critique is that since we were there for a special friends celebration, it would have been nice to get a drink at the bar at intermission but having only a couple bartenders for such a large group of people made it impossible. Only wish staffing at the bar would have been sufficient.
