About

Cirque du Soleil: Zumanity at New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas

Zumanity is hot, heavy and heart-stopping. This is Cirque du Soleil's most playful and provocative performance — a self-proclaimed "erotic thrill ride." Written and directed by René Richard Cyr and Dominic Champagne, Zumanity has given the Las Vegas Strip an extra dose of sex — without the sin — since it premiered in 2003 at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino. Unlike other family-friendly Cirque productions, this cabaret-style show is for mature eyes only, but still features the brand's world-class dance and acrobatics, with a touch of humor and nonstop thrills. In 2015, the show was revamped to feature updated characters, music, choreography and costumes. All attire has been designed by French fashion designer Thierry Mugler, who makes liberal use of fur, leather, velvet, feathers and cone bras — the quintessential Vegas look.

About the show Zumanity

Cirque du Soleil: Zumanity showcases all the beauty, grace and possibilities of the human body. Hosted by the Mistress of Sensuality, the show runs through a mind-boggling array of titillating acts that flirt with the limits of movement, sex and sensuality. It undulates between big, flashy dance numbers and quiet, intimate performances, highlighted by colorful — if not barely-there — dress and incredible displays of strength, flexibility and athleticism. To get the audience in the mood, the Spirits of the Wind perform an elegant dance on the rose-petal-strewn stage before Afrique, the African Queen, kicks up the pace. From there, two women — who also happen to be extraordinary contortionists — purify their love in the "Water Bowl." The mohawked Biker flips, twists and clings to a chain, sometimes by the mere strength of his feet. And a woman's fantasy becomes reality, all from the precarious seat of a giant hoop. There's also a stunning aerial silks act, a suggestive use of aerial straps, a James Bond–inspired striptease, juggling, breakdancing, S&M teasing, and a pink-champagne–filled tub that becomes a desirable playground for free spirits and free love. The best part: Audience members are invited to join in on the erotic fun at the end.

Amazing! Funny! Show inclusive of everyone.

Unfortunately, I hosed the start time and missed more than 1/2 the show. But on the good side, I now have a great excuse to see the show again next time I'm in Vegas. You know from other Cirque shows that the performers have to be in great shape, but with the scanty attire, you can really see how ripped these folks are. Amazing bodies! Really funny. They involve the audience which makes the show even funnier when the chosen audience participants play along.

    Quintessential Vegas Entertainment!

by JN on 2/18/20Zumanity Theatre at New York - New York Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

This show is definitely not for the prudish. It is naughty and hilarious!!! Unlike any other Cirque show I have seen. Awesome combination of the astonishing acrobatic feats one expects from a Cirque show and the bawdy comedy of a burlesque show. A must see in Vegas.

Worst show I have ever seen.

by Jlcain100 on 1/28/20Zumanity Theatre at New York - New York Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

Go see any other show then this one, it was terrible. The comedy was crude and not in the least funny. You can tell the performers were bottom of the barrel. The only good performance was the girls in the water. This show would not be worth it to go if it was free. We walked out about 75% through the show.

    Just OK

by CE1365 on 1/13/20Zumanity Theatre at New York - New York Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

Zumanity was fine, but it is far from being as good as other Cirque du Soleil shows. This show relies more on humor and less on acrobatics than other Cirque shows I've seen, and while the acrobatics it does incorporate are incredible, the "hosts" that guide you through the show are tacky and annoying. They also rely on a lot of "volunteers," which I find painful to watch. Overall, it's fine for the relative price of the ticket, but if you can spend the extra money for one of the other Cirque shows in Vegas, do that instead.
