There are lots of musicians who sound great on their albums but who fall flat when they perform live - whether it be poor vocal quality or sounding just like they do on the album. Nika isn't one of them. She brings a freshness and intensity and amazing quality to her live performances that it reminds you what great music is all about. If you can see her perform live, do it. You'll be well rewarded.

Zola Jesus has excellent material. Soaring vocals and arrangements. The only problem is the arrangements are executed by 3 keyboardists, a drummer, and Zola. All sound good, but if Zola could get guitars and bass into her mix she'll quickly find herself on a much bigger stage.

An amazing singer, with fantastic depth. Having seen Zola Jesus twice now, I've come away both times finding her live performances far richer and more transportive than her recordings.

If I could give Zola Jesus 5million stars I would. She is just absolutely amazing and will do wonderful things as she grows. She is a true performer through and through. I will go see her whenever she is in New York.

Zola Jesus under-delivered in a live setting. Studio-mixed the band is vibrantly dystopian with just enough sadness to convice me to risk the price of a ticket. In the end, I found Zola Jesus lacking in song variety and the crowd to be a stormy mix of hipster sound snobs and goth lifers. I might go check them out again once after the road has taught them what it takes to spin a music fan into proper frenzy. As always the staff at Brighten Music Hall are genuinely kind and helping. Love that place.
