About

ZEUS IN CONCERT:

When they're not performing as the phenomenally talented backing band for indie luminary Jason Collett (Broken Social Scene), Canadian rock outfit Zeus are an acclaimed creative force in their own right. The talented quartet offers up a creative brand of indie music that's as melodic as it is dance-worthy, combining Beatles-esque vocal harmonies, '70s rock, and a funky rhythm section to create their signature sound. Whether they're treating ticket buyers to the honky tonk piano party of "Love in a Game" or getting the audience dancing with the groovy "Miss My Friends", Zeus is an upbeat and animated live act that always impresses on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Zeus formed in Toronto in the late '00s as the backing band for Broken Social Scene member Jason Collett's solo work. When not recording or performing with Collett, they began penning their own material, and in 2009 they made their debut with the Sounds Like Zeus EP. Their critically acclaimed debut album Say Us followed a year later, cementing their status as an independent creative force and drawing them out for extensive touring. Their rise continued in 2012 with sophomore album Busting Visions, a surprise Canadian chart hit that spawned the popular single "Are You Gonna Waste My Time?". Since then Zeus has continued to tour extensively, thrilling fans with their performances both in support of Collett and as a headlining act. In 2014 they released their third album Classic Zeus, once again impressing critics before hitting the road on a highly anticipated tour.

Zeus is a band you need to know!

This is the second time I've seen Zeus perform and it was just as solid as their first amazing performance. These guys constantly change up their instruments, who's singing, and who's talking to the audience. If you go see them, you're no doubt in for a great time.

I felt like the entire experience was from out of the 1970s. They evoked the same style and feel as I would imagine it to have been. Plus, the intimacy of the Mercury Lounge helped to generate a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
