YUCK IN CONCERT:
Yuck crafts deliciously catchy shoegaze that strikes the perfect balance between dream pop and noise rock. Picking up where bands like My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth left off, the group’s guitarists build monumental amounts of sonic texture with swirling kaleidoscopic effects tp create an immersiveand mesmerizing live sound. Yuck occasionally makes forays into noisier territory, but thanks to their sing-song melodies and male/female harmonies every song is a pleasure to experience live. Whether they’re playing giddy rockers like “Georgia” and “Get Away” or folk-inspired ballads like “Suicide Police Man” and “Memorial Fields”, Yuck always treats ticket buyers to an irresistible blend of dreamy pop and noisy alt-rock on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Singer/guitarists Max Bloom and Daniel Blumberg formed Yuck in 2009 after leaving their previous band Cajun Dance Party. The two quickly rounded out the band's lineup with the addition of bassist Mariko Doi and drummer Jonny Rogoff, who appeared on the buzz-inducing singles “Rubber” and “Georgia” in 2010. The band’s 2011 self-titled debut received acclaim from publications like Stereogum and Spin, which named it among the year’s best releases. With fans clamoring for a follow-up, Blumberg drifted away from Yuck’s collaborative writing process to focus on his solo project, Hebronix. After the amicable split Bloom was left as the group’s sole songwriter for 2013’s Glow and Behold, which was also well-received by fans. The band tapped long-time friend and experienced guitarist Ed Hayes to play and sing on the ensuing tour before appearing on their 2014 EP Southern Skies. Yuck continues to develop new material and tour, bringing their unique brand of shoegaze to fans around the world.
