YOUNG DUBLINERS IN CONCERT:

Celtic rock heroes the Young Dubliners have been breathing new life into Irish music since the late '80s with their festive blend of traditional ballads and contemporary rock. The band's modern take on folk songs and sea shantys always makes for a good time at their live shows, where Irish dancers often take the stage to jig and curtsy alongside the musicians. Fresh off the 2013 release of their ninth studio album, the band are ready to tear it up on select 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Young Dubliners were formed in Los Angeles in 1988 by Paul O'Toole and Irish-born Keith Roberts. After achieving regional success with their raucous live shows, the band's 1993 debut EP Rocky Road put them on the national map with hit single "Last House on the Street." A string of acclaimed albums and tours would follow, including 2005's Real World, which wowed critics and fans alike with its ambitious and experimental blend of traditional Irish elements and arena-sized rock guitar licks. 2007's With All Due Respect - The Irish Sessions, an album exclusively comprised of Irish ballads and shantys, landed at No. 14 on Billboard's World Albums charts, bringing some much-deserved recognition to the often-underappreciated band.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"These guys can play. From soft, folky ballads to hard rocking anthems, the Young Dubliners are fit to carry the banner of "Irish Rock" for any of the heralded bands in that genre that preceded them..."

"The show was perfect. The right mix of new songs, old songs, and classic songs we know and love and miss hearing live!! So happy Dubs took a step back in time as it made the concert perfect for me and my husband."

"These guys put their hearts and souls into their music and if you don't leave their concert with a new surge of energy then you might want to check for a heartbeat."

The hardest working band in rock. If you haven't seen the Dubs live yet, you've gotta check them out. Keith and the boys put on a high energy, incredible show.

    Something just wasn’t quite right

by Gingerysnap on 3/12/24Knitting Factory - Boise - Boise

Something was off with the vocal microphones and you could barely understand the lead singer. Yes I know there is an accent, but I’ve seen them live more than a couple times and it never sounded like this. We ended up leaving after the 4th song because it was just too unpleasant.

    Loud music

by Vern Ball on 3/6/23Knitting Factory - Boise - Boise

Music was excellent- both bands. However, just painfully too loud. So loud you could not understand a single word anyone sang. So loud it physically hurt my ears at times. I simply don't understand why it has to be that loud- the lyrics mean nothing because you can't understand a single word. My 2 cents- probably won't go back again because that made it unenjoyable- just simply overdriven sound. I worked in radio and played music on-the-air and when it's overdriven it gets muddy and over modulated.
