About

Yo Gotti, whose real name is Mario Mims, started rapping in 1996 in Memphis, Tennessee and honed his street life story telling, southern style over a series of independently released albums, including 2000’s From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game, 2003’s Life and 2006’s Back 2 da Basics. Following multiple singles between 2009 and 2011, including 5 Star, Look In the Mirror, and Women Lie, Men Lie featuring Lil Wayne, he released his major label debut studio album Live From The Kitchen in January 2012 on RCA Records. It premiered at #12 on the Billboard charts, and featured verses from Rick Ross, Jadakiss and 2 Chainz. In October 2012, he also released the seventh version of his well-known mixtape series Cocaine Muzik, entitled Cocaine Muzik 7: The World Is Yours. In early 2013, Gotti announced that both he and his label CMG had signed a distribution deal with Epic Records and L.A. Reid, and that his next album, I Am, would be released in late 2013. Its first single was Act Right had guests Young Jeezy and YG, followed by King Shit with T.I., and Cold Blood featuring J. Cole and Canei Finch. The I Am tour stopped for concerts in 40 cities in the fall of 2013, exciting ticket buyers with supporting acts YG, Zed Zilla, Shy Glizzy and Cash Out.

    Subpar

by The Rogers on 4/15/24Indiana Farmers Coliseum - Indianapolis

If I would have known this was like a nightclub appearance for the artist, I would have not bought tickets. Each artist basically did a walk-through. In Indianapolis, they opened up with 3 local artist. Skilla Baby was OK, I'm pretty sure he was trying to stall for time. At one point he preformed the "Gorgeous"song twice and started doing karaoke by singing Keisha Cole's "Love"song. Webbie was great, he did his thing and interacted with the audience. The main artist (Yo Gotti) was only on stage for maybe 20-25 minutes then walked off, a very lack luster performance. Once Yo Gotti was done preforming the venue turned the lights on and everyone proceeded to leave. My husband and I were nearing the door when they announced that Rob49 was running late and still wanted to perform. Something about a delayed flight and that he was about 20 minutes away from the venue... we ended up leaving, which sucks cause my husband really wanted to see Rob49 we just didn't want to fight through the crowd of kids to get back to our seats at the front of the venue. All in all keep your money.

    A Good Hood Time

by Britt Lane on 12/23/23Capital One Arena - Washington

A time was had hunty! The HOOD was out in full force. There were a couple of questionable moments given the crowd but I knew what I was signing up for---the hood loves Gotti, Glo, MoneyBagg, Blac Youngsta, and BIG DUDE (can you tell who I was really there to see? lol). I liked how the acts weren't completely separate sets and blended into one another---the show was done like a well crafted album with transitions that made sense. My only complaint is that Glo's set ended with her song with MoneyBagg (which started his set) but they cut off Glo's verse (cause it's 2nd and they were moving into MoneyBagg's set)! I'd been practicing that verse---matter of fact the song was playing while I was looking for parkin...and I didn't rap along with MoneyBagg cause I just KNEW I was finna kill the verse with Big Glo. Smh, never happened lol. Other than that, a good racthet time was had.
