Yes with Styx - interesting combination

by YesStyxfan on 12/16/11Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel

A reasonable price for a ticket to two legendary bands. Although not a big Styx fan, they were great and played a great set showcasing all of their hits, of course. The big draw for me was Yes, and I was a bit disappointed in that they played far less than they could have, given the magnitude of their career. I also felt that they were a bit sloppy/lazy in their presentation, perhaps their hearts were not quite into it this particular show? Having said that, I did virtually have a front row seat, and it was cool seeing these legends up close. Jon Anderson wasn't there which was disappointing of course, but his replacement does as well as he can, which isn't too bad. To sum up, great seats, reasonable price, would have enjoyed to hear Yes play for more than 75 minutes!

    STYX was great as always!

by gr8fulbearable on 8/9/11Chateau Ste Michelle Winery - Woodinville

The crowd really enjoyed STYX. They always put on an awesome show! YES on the other hand was not a very tight band. They band was out of sync and old. I was excited to see them again, it was my 5th time, and I was disappointed by the show. Oh well. At least STYX new how to play the cried.....

    Yes & Styx Rock

by yesforever on 8/8/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Great to see two super groups get together. My first time seeing Styx and was blowen away. They still rock hard and having the original bass play appear as a special guest was awesome! Being a big Yes fan, I was very pleased with the outcome of this performance. It was great to see Chris Squire was in good form and his bass sounded exceptional. Steve Howe pulled it off again with his stelar guitar performances. Geoff Downs was a great replacement for the keyboard spot and you can tell he felt right at home, pulling off all the right riffs in all the right places. Alan White on drums held his own but that was about it. No surprises from Alan, as he seems to not have that driving force that he has been notorios for in the past. David on vocals is a fair replacement but no one will ever be able to replace the one and only Jon Anderson. All in all great show !

    All Bands

by Ataidefamily on 8/8/11Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View

This was the first Kihncert that I have ever attended and it was great. I really liked Kansas and Sytx. Wasn't too familiar with Yes and their music. Overall it was a great experience and will be attending the Heart concert that is coming in September.

    Styx? Yes. Yes? No.

by yesmuseum on 8/8/11Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I've often felt bothered that Yes's sound was poorly mixed. Various fans have told me that this is the "price" of sitting near the stage. Last year I saw Yes with Peter Frampton. Frampton's show was A+, while Yes was C-. The sound from Frampton's set was perfect. Not the case for Yes. This year, my position was reaffirmed. Styx gave a brilliant performance of some of their greatest songs. The sound was mixed perfectly. Then Yes took the stage and gave a sluggish performance mired by a swamp of bass poorly mixed over the keys and guitar, perhaps intentionally so it might drown out the less-than-prime-time skills that would draw my $100 for each of my 4 seats. To my Yes friends: It's not my seats, and it's not the Greek. It's Yes.

Kansas brought tears to my eyes!

by FranklySpeaks on 8/6/11Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View

All the groups were great, even though Yes was not one of my favorites growing up. Styx played a little too much of the songs you hear on the radio, but were still a blast from the past! I had never seen any of the three headliners in concert before, but had always wished for Styx and Kansas...this was a great lineup and now I only have to see Steely Dan to round out my lifelong wish list...of course, if this lineup comes again, I would love to be in "shadows of the 14th row" again!!!! If you have Styx again, suggest they play "Boat on a River" please...It brings back a memory of going to see my 1st true love via a 17 hour train trip through the western mountains.... Thanks for letting me review this concert!!
