YELLE IN CONCERT:
French electropop sensation Yelle is an ingenue for a new generation, blending the innocence of '60s chanson with the production savvy of contemporary dance music. As stylish as she is talented, the bubbly singer takes the stage at her live shows in cutting-edge stagewear, dancing energetically while charming audiences with her thickly accented banter. Whether she's jumping around to early favorites like "A Cause des Garcons" or treating fans to cuts from her highly anticipated third album, Yelle always brings the dance party on her fun-loving tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Yelle was formed in 2005 by singer Yelle, a.k.a. Julie Budet, and drummer/producer GrandMarnier, a.k.a. Jean-Francois Perrier. The duo's first track "Je Veux Te Voir" became a MySpace sensation in 2005, generating significant buzz and landing them a deal with Source Records. After adding producer Tepr to their lineup, Yelle released their debut LP Pop Up in 2007 to glowing reviews and a No. 8 position on the US Dance chart. The album landed two Top 20 hits on the French charts and earned the group legions of fans around the world, resulting in three years of touring in support of the album. Yelle released their sophomore LP Safari Disco Club in 2011, once again reaching the Top 10 on the US Dance chart before embarking on a critically acclaimed world tour. With their highly anticipated third album hitting shelves in 2014, Yelle once again has fans eager to catch them in concert.

Yelle’s music has inspired me for many years, and had left an impact on my life. See them live was everything.
I had no idea Yelle was performing in DC until the night of the show. I jumped on the next train and made it for doors open! Can’t wait to see her again, whenever she returns 🤪
They sound really good live. I had never heard of Sam Quealy, but she was a great opening act.
I did not know who was prior to the concert, but I had such a great time that I priced a plane ticket to LA to catch her next show!
I had the chance last night to see Yelle live and up close at Great Scott in Boston. The band was incredible, especially Julie. She had so much energy as she engaged with the crowd. It was a complete treat to see them in such an intimate venue like Great Scott; I felt like I was really able to connect with the band.
This was my first Yelle concert. They were wonderful! Julie looked fantastic and confirmed that she can dance as well as she sings. Together with the guys, they really kept you on your toes the whole night. They mixed in songs from the new album and the best ones from the previous two. If you have an opportunity to see Yelle live, do it!
Yelle was amazing! She is so energetic and absolutely glorious!
Yelle is great. They played songs from all their albums, not just the newest one. Instead of a DJ, there's two full drum kits with two drummers- very cool. They all have synchronized dance moves. She was very charming with her thick French accent.
When the band Yelle got on stage, the shouts of excitement filled the room, and it didn't stop there. Their synchronization the whole time between the drummers and Julie (the lead singer) was spot on. The drummers had a bit of humor when they played, which made the concert even more enjoyable. The sounds of the drums intermixed with the music was tight and spot on. The music just sounded overall amazing. You could dance, raise your hands, and have as much energy as when you walked in. Speaking of which, Yelle maintained their energy the entire time and motivated the crowd through each song. It was great to see how much Yelle has impacted their fans in the U.S. throughout the years, and their fancies is still ever-growing. Even though the words are in French, that didn't stop the fans from singing along. Overall, this concert experience was beautiful. Julie thanked the crowd after almost every song, and it showed how thankful they were to be in Boston, which makes me respect Yelle even more. After the show, the band signed fan's items at the merch table. Usually at concerts, bands rush, sign things, and move on to the next person. Julie took her time with each person, which made the experience personal and even more amazing. She is the kindest person I have ever met, and I truly mean that!
