About

Wyatt Cenac was born in New York City. After three years of big city life he had had enough and moved to Dallas, Texas. Missing the big city life, Wyatt moved to North Carolina. After four years, he realized he got on the wrong plane and moved to the big city of Los Angeles where he would spend the next bunch of years doing comedy and getting into debt.

While in LA, Wyatt spent three seasons as a writer on FOX's animated show "King of the Hill" and also did stand up at shows like "Comedy Death Ray" and "The Tomorrow Show." To avoid his debt collectors, Wyatt spent most of his time performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade and Improv Olympic, where he did shows like "Rap Crisis Center," "The Armando Show" and did a regrettably terrible Barack Obama impression that found its way onto the Internet. In 2008, Wyatt starred in the film "Medicine for Melancholy" which was nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards and lost all three (Thanks a lot, "Synecdoche, New York").

Wanting to return to the big city he gave the finger to as a toddler, Wyatt moved back to New York in 2008 to join the news team of "The Daily Show" as a correspondent and writer. He forgot how cold it gets in the winter.

    Wyatt Delivers!

    by Paddy34 on 3/2/15Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

The opener (Sam Jay) killed it during her 15 minute set. The bar was a great setting for a show, as it allowed for an intimate show. Wyatt came on and performed a wonderful set and even gave us another 30 minutes on top of his planned set because someone near the stage bought him a alcoholic beverage. He is an excellent performer that is bound for great things and it was amazing to be able to see him in a small setting with a great crowd.

    Missed the Mark

by Morganola on 2/27/15JohnnyD's - Somerville

Love you Wyatt, however the show at JohnnyD's in Somerville, MA missed the mark. Material (scattered at times) did not really connect with audience in any consistent manner. Overall, the venue was excellent with a full house that expected more.

    First time at Cobbs

by Anonymous on 1/26/15Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

Got there right as show was about to start and got great seats. The whole show from start to finish was under 90 minutes. The two drink minimum left my friend and I with beverages that we were rushed to drink because they were cleaning to let the next group of folks in. Overall I would not recommend this venue. The comedians were great its just the venue that I would avoid.

Wyatt Cenac and Ron Funches were hilarious

by Anonymous on 1/26/15Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

The show was great. We showed up at 7:10 for an 8 pm show in order to get good seats. The line up was overall good. The acts that I wanted to see, Wyatt Cenac and Ron Funches were HILARIOUS. The others were below average, especially the woman who came on before Ron Funches. She kept stumbling through her jokes and wasted a lot of time. Ron Funches came on after her and because of her pathetic effort to make us laugh, she ended up eating into his time. I hope Wyatt doesn't bring her in his future shows.

    Nightrain brought the flavors

by toshon on 1/25/15Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

I loved the great start and punch and the diverse comedy sketches in play especially how they played on edges of comfort and nailed it. Great sketch idea!

    Wyatt rocked the house!

    by Dolce15 on 10/21/12Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

Wyatt Cenac was fantastic! He's bright, ribald at times, and responsive to his audience. I laughed my socks off and he made me think. The opening act, Jermaine something, was funny and cute and warmed up the crowd. It would have been nice if Ticketmaster had mentioned that the $25 per ticket we paid only got us in the door of the venue. In order to actually sit during the performance, we had to make dinner reservations and spend a minimum of $14 more each for dinner, not including drinks. People who didn't eat had to stand at the back of the venue. I'd see Wyatt again anytime, but I would seriously pause when seeing a show at this venue again.

awesome Wyatt Cenac & Jermaine Fowler show!

by racati on 10/21/12Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

so I'm a huge-time fan of Wyatt Cenac, and was positively ecstatic to get the chance to see him perform on my birthday. Johnny D's is a fairly small club/bar/restaurant, so the atmosphere felt rather cozy, too, plus I ended up sitting fairly near the stage. I wasn't familiar w/ Jermaine Fowler before this, but found him a delightful surprise---seriously, that kid is going places!

Cenac is the cure to a stressful week

by EGID on 10/21/12Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

Wyatt Cenac is so funny. I love watching him on the Daily Show, but he is even better live. And so damn sexy! I'm really glad I went.
