    Solid

Good wrestling showcase. 8 mats, 14 NCAA teams plus a few local PSAL high school matches.

Grapple at the Garden was great!!!!

by pwyman71 on 12/20/12Madison Square Garden - New York

I would recommend this event to be a recurring event each December. Wrestling, and especially college wrestling, is the pinnacle of the sport for most of us, so seeing such a great collection of wrestlers from some of the best teams in the nation is unbelievable! I look forward to going to this on an annual basis!

Good wrestling, but announcers were not involved

by Brianarg on 12/19/12Madison Square Garden - New York

Great venue, some excellent wrestling... but poor program (no indication of ranked wrestlers, key match-ups to watch), and the announcers were not announcing what was going on. (When they did, they sometimes got it wrong!) They did not draw the crowd's attention to falls, close matches, and they seldom said who was wrestling where. The one guy kept interviewing WWE and MMA wrestlers - which is not what true NCAA or Freestyle fans want to see. The constant techno music beat was annoying. Also, they needed to have bout numbers or some other indicator of which wrestlers were actually on the mat at any given time. The crowd was dead and disengaged, and I blame the announcers and the annoying interviews.

    why the smoke and mirrors?

by oldfatandbald on 12/18/12Madison Square Garden - New York

The wrestling was excellent. The high school events deserved their own time. The Knick dancers and the fog machine/fireworks were unnecessary. The announcing of the individual matches was inconsistent. But the wrestling was great.

Good format, not overly long and drawn out. Great to see wrestling in NYC.

It should be a yearly event. Everyone in the Garden seemed to enjoy the competition.
