    Awesome performance

by Robinhood22 on 7/1/15House of Blues Houston - Houston

Great songs, great performance, wonderful time. Only downside was that the ticket said that doors will be open at 7pm, but opening act (which was really really good) started at 8pm and World Party only came on after 9pm. Quite a wait considering everyone had to stand to watch the concert. Usually get seated tickets but this venue did not have them.

    World Party was great!

by Rick1967 on 7/1/15House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

Karl Wallinger and Davy Duffy put on a great two-man show at the House of Blues in New Orleans. With Wallinger on guitar & piano and Duffy on violin & mandolin, the guys played songs from World Party's entire 30+ year discography. Wallinger and Duffy are such natural musicians that they more than compensated for their stripped-down performance. Particularly great was when Wallinger switched from guitar to piano for the beautiful "God On My Side" and "All Come True". There was also a great extended jam on "Is It Too Late?" If Wallinger and Duffy come to a music venue near you, don't miss them!

    World Party was wonderful!

Loved this show. World Party was awesome as always. The The Sinclair was a good venue. I would go see another show there. I would recommend this event to a friend.

    Excellent performance. Minimal production.

by UCTAlum on 5/17/15The Sinclair - Cambridge

This was my first time to see World Party in concert. I was impressed with the sound quality and the musicality of the group. They sounded identical to their records. And, there was a lot of "personality" displayed during and in-between songs. So, very high marks on those counts. But, this was a stripped down group - no bass, no drums. It was a step above busking. I was slightly underwhelmed by the opening act. He was fine. But, most of his material was very melancholy.

    Lots of Heart and Spirit

by MikeOso on 6/17/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

World Party fans will love this. 3-piece w/Karl on lead vocal, guitar and keys + 2 highly accomplished accompanists on backup vocal, electric guitar and fiddle. Plenty of understated Brit humor, most of the hits, and maximum available punch from the lineup. My wife is a huge fan and had an awesome time really letting go, inspired by this great show!

Fiddle Alert - you've been warned

by Triphux on 6/11/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

I LOVE Goodbye Jumbo - it is a great album full of unique songs, interesting lyrics and great riffs. I jumped for joy when I heard that World Party was coming to my town, and was confused that none of my friends seemed to have heard of them. When I realized that the WP show in my home town had been the night before, I actually drove 3.5 hours to Atlanta to see him/them a few days later. It was something of an adventure. I brought friends, pumped the show, was very psyched. So let me warn those of you who are about to plunk down some coin to see this show. The drummer/drumming/percussion which give WP and GJ its driving sound and infectious beat has been replaced by a fiddle. In case this sounds like a misprint, let me repeat that the sound of WP that you love from Goodbye Jumbo, has gone 'goodbye' in a 'jumbo' way. The result sounded like a bluegrass cover band was playing the once great songs of WP. You've been warned. T

Wallinger sounded great; songs hold up

by WorldPartyFan on 6/9/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Terrific three-piece (Wallinger alternated between acoustic guitar and keyboard) band gave a different spin to songs that hold up--still recognizable but fresh to the ears. Fiddle/mandolin added dimension. Nice guitar work from both. Wallinger was really funny, making fun of the crowd for beebopping and smiling and singing along to lyrics that are essentially saying the world is going to hell. Shouldn't have made the tunes so catchy... melodic.... :-)

World Party @ Variety Playhouse 06/06/2014 Atlanta

by lonejerk on 6/9/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Three piece set without a drummer made me skeptical at first however I was pleasantly suprised at how good the music was this way. Never seen World Party before but will definitely see them again next chance I get.
