About

The Wilmington Blue Rocks are a minor league baseball team based in Wilmington, Delaware. They play in the Northern Division of the High-A East League.

The Blue Rocks play their home games at Judy Johnson Field at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium, which is located in Wilmington, Delaware. The stadium opened in 1993 and has a seating capacity of 6,400. It is named after Daniel S. Frawley, who was a former mayor of Wilmington and a supporter of the project to bring minor league baseball to the city. Judy Johnson Field is named after baseball legend Judy Johnson, who was born in Wilmington.

The Blue Rocks have had some notable achievements in their history. They have won five league titles (1994, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2019). The team also made it to the championship series in 2004, but lost to the Kinston Indians.

The team's colors are Powder Blue and Buff, an official color of the State of Delaware. The Blue Rocks are the only professional sports team in America using Buff as a team color. They have been affiliated with the Washington Nationals since 2021, with previous ties to the Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox.

The Blue Rocks also boast a trio of lively mascots. Leading the pack is Rocky Bluewinkle, a spirited blue moose who brings enthusiasm to the games, as well as Mr. Celery, a charming stalk of celery that takes center stage, dancing to the tune of "Song 2" by Blur each time Wilmington scores a run. Lastly, there is Rubble, a colossal blue rock who adds a touch of grandeur to the mascot lineup.

In addition to their on-field success, the Blue Rocks are extremely involved in the community. They have a number of programs and initiatives aimed at giving back to the Wilmington area, including a youth baseball program, a charity auction, and partnerships with local organizations. The team has a number of promotions and special events throughout the season, including fireworks shows, giveaways, and theme nights.
