About

WILDLIFE IN CONCERT:

In early 2014 Canadian band Wildlife journeyed to Maui, Hawaii and performed a concert 10,000 feet above sea level on the lip of a volcano (seriously -- look it up on YouTube). It was a fitting setting for the pop rockers, whose signature sound of punk-tinged, passion-fueled anthems can accurately be described as "volcanic" and "explosive". In concert frontman Dean Povinsky sings with a striking sense of urgency, resulting in a high-energy live show that's packed with emotion and intensity. The band blends the broodiness of punk rock with the melodic catchiness of pop to serve up a combo platter that's earned them comparisons to Arcade Fire, U2, and Phoenix. From the pounding drums and ferocious guitars of "Born To Ruin" to the upbeat, sing-a-long chorus of crowd favorite "Stand In The Water", Wildlife's exhilarating live performances leave ticket buyers utterly enthralled and thoroughly rocked.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer and guitarist Dean Povinsky and guitarist Graham Plant formed Wildlife in Toronto in 2006. The pair of childhood friends rounded out their lineup with drummer Dwayne Christie, bassist Derek Bosomworth, and keyboardist Tim Daugulis, and the quintet independently released a self-titled EP in 2008. Two years later they penned a deal with independent Toronto-based label Easy Tiger Music and released their debut album, 2010's Strike Hard, Young Diamond. Packed with anthemic tunes about youth, recklessness, and naiveté, the album spawned the singles "Stand In The Water" and "Sea Dreamer", which cracked the top five on CBC Radio's Top 30 charts. For their 2013 sophomore release On The Heart the band presented a more mature and contemplative collection of tracks that earned them opening gigs for Young The Giant and Lights. In 2014 they won the SiriusXM Indie Award for Rock Artist/Group of the Year, adding further proof that they're a truly muse-see band on the rise.
